
Dr. Kathleen L. Keller received her Bachelor’s degree in biology from Marquette University in 1995 and her PhD in Nutritional Sciences from Rutgers University. Following her graduation, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship on a National Institutes of Health (NIH) T32 at the New York Nutrition Obesity Research Center. Following her post-doc, she transitioned to a faculty position and received a career development award from the NIH to study the relationship between the inherited ability to taste bitter and children’s eating behaviors. In 2012, Dr. Keller came to Penn State. She is currently co-appointed as a Professor in the Department(s) of Nutritional Sciences and Food Science. She is also the Director of the Metabolic Kitchen and Children’s Eating Behavior Laboratory. She is passionate about helping children and families develop healthier eating behaviors in the current environment, which is filled with tasty, high calorie, foods lacking in essential nutrients. Outside of work, Dr. Keller loves cooking (especially ethnic cuisine), reading, travel, and spending time with her family.
