We are in our first year of having participants for the apple study and are so excited to get working! The purpose of this study is to study the effects of different forms of food (solid, semi-solid, liquid) in apples. There are 5 visits where children will consume apples in these different forms such as apple slices, apple sauce, and apple juice.
During the first visit, your child will get their height and weight taken and then play a card game with pictures of different foods. They may be fed a snack and then will eat a test meal. They will then have two other tasks during this visit. You will also have your height and weight taken and answer questionnaires. The next 4 visits are similar where your child may be fed a snack and then will have a test meal. You will continue to complete different questionnaires during these visits. In visit 2, your child will have a DXA scan and in visit 3, 4, & 5 they will play different games and answer different questionnaires. From this research, we hope to find out whether beverages are less filling than solids, which may help prevent weight gain in childhood.

*Please note that our screening questionnaires make sure your child is eligible for the study. We will then be in contact with you to tell you if your child is eligible or ineligible.
