I really enjoyed the lunch we had with Rockwell Automations. Not only did I learn a lot about Rockwell, which was cool because it was a company I previously did not know much about, but I also got to know a man who worked there. Harold was the manager of the engineers at Rockwell and he was a really interesting man to talk to. We talked a lot about Rockwell and what he does there. He told us about the competitors and why Rockwell opened the Dalian campus in the first place and what it is like to work there. I asked him if he thinks education is important for promotions and career growth and he said that he thinks a more important factor in career growth is projects. He said getting as many assignments as you can and showing initiative and leadership is the best way to get promoted. Apparently the current CEO of Rockwell used to be in sales and he has made his way up to CEO now. Harold also told us that he likes to exercise and take pictures of nature in his free time but it is hard to do sometimes with work and all of the other responsibilities he has. He told us it is important to choose things that are important to us and make time for them even though life can be busy. Talking with Harold was very interesting and I really think it was a nice connection to make and I am glad we had the chance to.
