The Food

When arriving in Beijing one of the first cultural differences I noticed was the food. After the long thirteen-hour plane ride I was eager to try some “Chinese” food. After failing to read the menu at the few places in the airport I got a fake BLT from a slightly Americanized café. It was not till we had our first dinner at the Peaking Duck restaurant that I realized how different and tasty the Chinese food is. As we traveled to different parts of China each city had its own type of popular food such as seafood, hot pot, dumplings, and more. Trying all the different foods and practicing my chop skills was a great experience. I would recommend the belt noodles and the hot pot.
