Preliminary Post for E-Portfolio

Platform: I will use Wix to create my e-portfolio. Based on the reviews, it seems like Wix is the strongest platform. I like how there is a lot of freedom for creativity, but the Wix ADI feature can also help with building a foundation for the design.

Purpose: The purpose of this e-portfolio is to highlight my experiences with dance marathon in high school and how I built on this experience this year with Penn State THON.

Audience: My audience will be Penn State students and alumni who are passionate about THON. There are approximately 16,500 students involved with THON, and Penn State has one of the largest alumni networks in the nation. Alumni are proud to be from Penn State, and many of them continue to support THON. My family and friends who are interested in learning more about my experiences would also be part of the audience.

Tabs & Artifacts:

  • About Me: This will be my homepage for the site where I will introduce myself and briefly explain my involvement with my high school’s dance marathon, TigerThon, and Penn State’s THON. I will include my graduation year and school to provide more context about myself, but I do not plan to include my resume because a resume does not seem relevant to a philanthropic audience.
  • Why I THON: In this section, I plan to explain what has inspired me to volunteer for this cause.
    • Artifacts: I will include my “Why I THON” picture from this year.
  • Before Penn State: In this section, I will share some of my experiences from high school and the lessons I learned on a smaller scale within my school community.
    • Artifacts: I will include a video that introduces our patient family as well as pictures with them. I will also include the promo video for the event, highlight video from the dance marathon, and an audio clip of an interview on the local radio.
  • Penn State THON: In this section, I will elaborate on my experiences with THON this year. I would briefly discuss how the lessons I learned from high school transferred to Penn State THON as well but on a much larger scale.
    • Artifacts: I was on a Dancer Relations Committee this year and filmed my dancers throughout the weekend, so I will include the highlight video created for them. I will also include pictures from my committee’s THON retreat and THON weekend.

  1. I like your idea of having showcasing your passion THON. I think it will be pique the interest of an audience who wants to know more about what it’s actually like to be involved with THON. For example, if I were just coming to Penn State and was questioning what position I should take in THON involvement, this website would be beneficial to me. Maybe take that audience into consideration. Other than that, I find that this can be very personal to you and enjoyable to read.

  2. Your idea to focus it on thon sounds great and really highlight your passion for it. You seem to have a solid outline already, so I’m excited to see how you build upon it in the implementation of you site

  3. I think this is a great way to use your e-portfolio. It is unique and clearly showcases one of your passions. This will also be a great way to raise even further awareness of THON.

  4. I really like this idea. I think it is really smart to narrow down your topic to just THON. I feel like this is a great way to appeal to thousands of alumni who also participated in THON. In the end, I feel like this will definitely help you build connections with alumni.

  5. So far your eportfolio idea has been the most organized and well articulated. I think that focusing on THON is smart and will help to keep your audience on track. Great work.
