No athlete can sustain the highest level of forever. Kobe Bryant, five time NBA champion, is starting to realize that his time his coming to an end. The general manager of the Los Angeles Lakes, Mitch Kupchak, has stated that Kobe’s “on the last year of a deal. There have been no discussions about anything going forward. I don’t think there will be.” With an aging Kobe Bryant who is already thirty seven years old the outlook on his future in the NBA is bleak. Bryant has faced many debilitating injuries of the past two seasons which are major factors in his near retirement. Many people speculate that due to these factors and the fact that his contract is up at the end of this season Kobe may call it quits next season.
The article uses a lot of logos to draw the conclusion that Kobe will retire next season. They use prior knowledge of his diminishing health and contractual evidence to show what options he has left. There is also so use of pathos as it is written for Kobe fans who will be upset to see their favorite player’s career coming to an end.
Personally, I think its time for Kobe to retire. I believe that this last season will be a sort of farewell tour for Bryant. Growing up as a big Kobe fan, I am a little sad to see him retire but after 2o great seasons of giving the game his all every night I would not say I am disappointed.
