Introduction:
I’m Chau-Lam (Chris) Yu, and I’m a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences at the University at Albany SUNY.
My research focuses on understanding the fundamental dynamics of tropical cyclones (TCs) that can cause significant changes in its intensity and structure, including rapid intensification, TC-shear interaction, secondary eyewall formation, and rainband dynamics. My primary research aims at understanding the rapid intensification process, with a focus on the coupling process between troposphere and boundary layer that leads to the rapid deepening of the storm.
