The Intercultural Learning Resource Toolkit

“The citizens of the twenty-first century must learn to see through the eyes, hearts, and minds of people from cultures other than their own.”

– Guo-Ming Chen & William J. Starosta

What is the Intercultural Learning Resource Toolkit?

In the time of globalization, people are interacting across cultures and across lines of difference more than ever before. Our increased interconnectivity holds innumerable benefits, but also leads to increased conflict stemming from differences in attitudes, values, behaviors, and history. To live, lead, and succeed meaningfully and productively in today’s world, we must engage in intercultural learning. This skill is essential for developing global citizens able to thrive in a diverse world beyond Penn State Abington.

The Intercultural Resource Toolkit provides tools for faculty and staff to integrate intercultural pedagogical practices in their teaching and facilitate the development of intercultural learning in themselves and others. The toolkit contains three categories as well as a link to CILMAR’s Intercultural Learning Hub. Each category page is an organized compilation of external resources comprising a variety of topics. About the Toolkit Development

As a resource for intercultural learning at Penn State Abington, CILC developed the Intercultural Learning Resource Toolkit (ILRT) to provide tools for intercultural learning development and intercultural pedagogy to the PSA community. The ILRT aims to equip faculty and staff with the tools and resources needed to overcome these challenges and become intercultural leaders and global citizens. Click here for a full list of toolkit references.

The ILRT is in its early stages of development and CILC staff are continuing to collect resources to add to the toolkit. To suggest a resource to be added to our toolkit, please visit the Contact Us page and send us a message with the resource information.
