e-portfolio

When looking at the assignment for the next project I choose to use WordPress for the website. Of the three this looks the most professional to me and they own “30% of the internet” and although it is harder to use supposedly I think that the pain will be worth it in the end. As for the purposes, audiences, tabs, and artifact selection my e-portfolio would probably be named ToriGamel. It would follow a clean-cut and user-friendly layout for new visitors. I would plan to have it updated whenever I finish a semester with the new projects I worked on at that time. Much like a résume, it would provide a helpful view into my life with things that usually would only be a small fraction or not even mentioned on my resume when applying to grad schools and future jobs. Many of the things I have done aren’t completely explainable through a few short sentences but with an e-portfolio, it provides viewers with a better understanding about the extracurriculars and myself.

purpose: would be to help aid in a better look into my life for jobs when they background checks, it would help with the companies idea of me verse just a single paper

audience: anyone truly, but it would be directed for schools and future employers

tabs: a home page, a class page with grades, a résume page with photos,  extracurriculars, photography and films made by me

artifacts: latest projects, résume, films and photography of my own and of me in extracurriculars

I hope you all are doing okay and good luck on finals!

  1. Its good to get a head start with creating an E-Portfolio that can be used to help find a profession in the future. I like the idea and I think it will be interesting to see how your E-portfolio will change and evolve throughout the years to come.

Hope your doing well and are able to cope during quarantine.

  2. As long as you’re comfortable with WordPress I think it’ll be a good choice!
I like your idea of providing a well-rounded vision of yourself for future employers and grad schools. My only concern is that you might want to make sure it comes together as a cohesive idea, instead of little bits of all parts of your life. Best of luck!

  3. It sounds like you have a good handle on what you want to do. I think it is a good idea to curate it towards employers so you can showcase your work for them.

  4. It seems like you’re fully prepared for this project, but I’ll throw my two cents in anyway. You sound like you’ve got a good idea of where you’re going, and I agree that WordPress seems like the most rewarding option, despite the challenges it may pose.

  5. I feel as though wordpress may be a bit more difficult to insert artifacts, etc., but it seems like you’re very comfortable with the platform and thus will likely be able to make it work for your purposes! I like the idea of including academics as well as who you are on a holistic level, but I would say to try not to make the portfolio too quantitative in terms of grades and whatnot.
