Recently in Sweden, rap star A$AP Rocky was arrested for suspicion of assault after a video was released on the internet of the incident. A$AP Rocky was in Stockholm, Sweden to perform a show on Tuesday night at the Smash festival, but he did a little bit more performing than expected. On Sunday afternoon, June 30th, A$AP Rocky and his group of fellow stars and body guards were seen being harassed by a pair of fans, which ended up turning into a violent altercation. The fans were following the artist for several blocks, harassing Rocky and threatening to fight him.
A$AP Rocky is a famous image in the rap culture. He has had multiple hits on the billboard top 100 and with that comes stardom and fame. Being famous isn’t as glamorous as it looks, with it comes many crazy fans who forget that these stars are normal people, just like them. Rocky originally went to Sweden with the intent to perform for his fans, but not everything goes as planned. He has usually been very good at avoiding conflicts with fans, but this time his button was pushed way too many times. There’s video proof of these couple of fans following A$AP and his crew around, they were harassing and threatening Rocky.
A$AP Rocky and his bodyguards repeatedly tell the fans to leave him alone, but instead of listening to them, the fans keep on threatening and wishing to fight the star. It wasn’t until one of the fans hit one of the body-guards that Rocky took action. Rocky threw a fan to the ground, and then his crew came in and tried to break up the fight. There’s also a video of the fighting incident that happened. After the video was released to the internet, the Swedish authorities arrested A$AP Rocky on late Tuesday night.
A$AP Rocky is claiming his innocence by stating it was a form of self-defense. He even posted the video on his own Instagram because he saw nothing wrong in what he did. I agree with Rocky’s claim because the fans were repeatedly told to leave A$AP alone, and they also took action first by hitting one the body-guards. His safety was on the line and the actions that Rocky used for self-defense are justifiable.

I will never understand why “celebrities” do no simply use drivers. It’s sad that fans feel some how “connected” to these artists, or can easily interact with them like this.
