Take Me Out to The Ball Game

Take me out to the ball game, take me out with the crowd; buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks, I don’t care if I ever get back. Let me root root root for the Spikes team, if they don’t win it’s a shame. For there’s 1, 2, 3 strikes you’re out at the old ball game. The famous 7thinning stretch song. On Monday, a few friends and I attended the State College Spikes baseball game in which they hosted the Batavia Muckdogs. The admission is free for Penn State students and is a great way to just sit down, relax, and enjoy your time watching America’s pastime.

The Batavia Muckdogs blew out State College Spikes in a whopping 14-2 victory, but that doesn’t mean that the game still wasn’t enjoyable. The free student tickets put us right behind the visitor side bullpen, offering a good view of the game. It also gave us the opportunity to talk to the pitchers on the other team whom stayed in the bullpen during the game. Along with the great seats, the stadium has all of the fattening unhealthy food that I love. There’s nothing like going to a baseball game and stuffing your face with kettle popcorn and extra crispy fries. Don’t worry, I didn’t eat all of that food myself, my friends and I shared everything. We even shared some kettle corn with the pitchers that were in the bullpen.

My roommate and I were conversing with the bullpen pitchers for most of the game, making them laugh and getting funny reactions from them. When the opposing team scored, we “boo’d” as loud as we could, which made the bullpen pitchers laugh. It made them cheer even louder for their team which caused a lot of excitement. We were even able to talk one of the players into giving us some of his sunflower seeds. The players enjoyed the interactions we were having with them, and they were communicating back to us in funny manners. For example, they were doing weird stretches and running around in the bullpen to try and make us laugh. They even gave me a foul ball after the game and thanked us for giving them entertainment.

Besides the actual game and interaction with the players, the Spikes baseball game actually offered a good environment to get work done. I brought my laptop into the game and was able to get a lot of work done in between innings. I was able to get a whole blog post done, as well as start an essay for my English class. I think that a Spikes game is the perfect place to relax and get rid of some stress that school can put on me. It offers a getaway place for me to go and complete my work while watching my favorite game.
