The Outfits of Artsfest

Arts Festival, otherwise known as Arts Fest, is a time for family, friends, alumni, locals, and travelers to visit State College for a 5-day cultural experience. Arts Fest occurs every year and is a festival full of venders, live music, great food, and fun activities. While walking through on College Ave, the sidewalks that surround campus contain venders selling anything from paintings to glass work to colorful socks. Arts Fest’s cultural diversity attracts people representing their culture with their clothing, hats, hair, shoes, tattoos, jewelry, and anything else that represents them. What caught my attention the most about the different cultures was the clothing that people wore to represent them. I chose to photograph people whose outfits represented their untold stories. In asking permission when taking these peoples photos, I was able to dive in and learn more about their cultures. I liked being able to start a conversation with these people about their clothing and learn more about their life. People say that a picture can speak a thousand words, and in the people who I photographed proved that saying to be true.
