Traditional Interviews

Although most employers have moved away from traditional interview questions, it is still possible to encounter such questions and hence it is best to prepare. The main goal of the traditional interview is to assess fit with the company and applicant interest. Some of these questions may also serve as a way to build rapport with applicants before questions from other interview types are asked.

Preparation

A good strategy to prepare for such an interview is to think about yourself and how you would describe yourself and your goals to an employer; why you would like to work for them; where you see yourself in 5/10 years; what your strengths and weaknesses are, etc. Make sure to align responses to the requirements of the job as well as the company culture. Employers are aiming to assess your fit for the position as well as the company and therefore it is very important to research about all aspects of the organization.
