Vote!

This Tuesday, November 6th, is, and probably will be, the most important election in our lifetime. So much is at stake, especially for our generation, and we cannot take this responsibility, the act of voting, for granted again. For too long, young voters haven’t voted because they don’t care about politics. That is why we are where are today, young people have been excluded from the conversations in Washington D.C. and thus, our interests have been ignored or left behind.

Climate change, the single greatest threat to humanity, is on the ballot this Tuesday. It is being entirely ignored, and even denied, by the White House and Republican controlled Congress. If they stay in power, and nothing is done for the environment in the next two years, our future and our children’s future home is going to be destroyed. We need to vote for Democrats now, and demand that people look towards the future of this planet or we are going to pay the price in the next decade.

Gun violence, and school safety are on the ballot this Tuesday. If Republicans retain control of both chambers of Congress, there is no doubt that nothing will be done regarding the epidemic of mass shootings in this country. If you want to see change, and you want to see schools, places of worship, movie theaters, and everywhere else safer you need to vote for Democrats on Tuesday.

Healthcare for millions of people is on the ballot Tuesday. Republicans tried to strip healthcare away from over 10 million people last year, and if they win this November they have already said they are going to try and do it again. They, contrary to the lies they are peddling now, voted to take away protections for people with pre-existing conditions and allow insurance companies to either flat out deny them coverage or hike their prices. If you believe everyone should have healthcare, and people with pre-existing conditions need to be covered fairly, vote for Democrats on Tuesday.

And so much more is at stake in this upcoming election. The future of this country, and what we value as a nation, is at stake.

Do we believe medicare, medicaid, and social security should be cut to give tax cuts to billionaires? Most Americans don’t, but that is what Republicans want to do.

Do we believe we should keep spending billions of dollars on endless wars in the Middle East rather than healthcare for our own citizens? Most Americans don’t, but that is what Republicans want to do.

Do we believe families that have entered this country while fleeing a nation of war or poverty in hopes of a better life should be separated and never reunited? Most Americans don’t, but that is what Republicans HAVE done.

The basic values of this nation are being attacked by those in power right now, and they are not being held accountable This Tuesday we have a chance to hold them accountable and show them that we do not approve of what they are doing, and already have done in their time in power.

Too many people in this country take the right to vote for granted. There are still people in the world, and this country that cannot vote and they are fighting for that basic democratic right. Every American needs to exercise their right this Tuesday and place a check on this reckless Presidency and his enabling Congress. Democracy depends on it, this is too important to sit home and do nothing.

If you aren’t voting for any plethora of reasons, watch this;

The name of this site has to do with my favorite quote from President Obama, and I will leave you with those wise words as we head into the most consequential election of a lifetime.

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek”.
