A minimal model for dispersal evolution: spatial sorting and front acceleration

Vincent Calvez, Institut Camille Jordan, CNRS & Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France

I will present a recent study with C. Henderson, S. Mirrahimi and O. Turanova which aims to describe the transient regime during the invasion of an alien species subject to dispersal evolution. We found that, quite surprisingly, the nonlocal competition can slow down the front acceleration. I will also review the biological and mathematical motivations and some previous contributions in this topic.
