Undergraduate Research Assistants 


Sydney Murphy

Sydney is a junior from Springfield, Pennsylvania. She is pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. She joined the research lab in order to gain experience and learn more about emotion regulation. She is on the Child Strategy Coding Team and has plans of attending a graduate program for school psychology after she graduates in 2020.



Cella Holfelderunnamed

Cella is a sophomore undergraduate student from Butler, Pennsylvania. She plans on majoring in Psychology with a possible focus in Child Development. She has always been interested in studying Psychology and hopes to apply this interest to a future career. One of things that drew her to Penn State was the opportunity to become involved in research. She is currently a research assistant in the Cole Emotion Regulation Lab for the Development of Self Regulation Project. She’s excited to further explore her interest in research and learn more about children in the process!



Paige Johnson

Paige is a junior from Youngstown, Ohio. She is pursing a double major in Psychology and Human Development and Family Studies, as well as a minor in Rehabilitation and Human Services. Paige has become fascinated with developmental psychology and plans to attend graduate school to continue her studies in this field and become a child life specialist. In her free time, Paige is involved with Lion Scouts, CHAARG, Penn State Psi Chi International Honor Society, and THON.




Elizabeth Foelker

Elizabeth is a sophomore psychology major from Myerstown, PA. She wanted to get involved in this lab to gain experience in emotion regulation. Elizabeth plans on attending graduate school to obtain her Masters degree and Ed.S. in school psychology after she graduates in 2020. In her free time, she is involved in Psi Chi National Honors Society, Gamma Sigma Sigma, Vole, and Outcast dance team.





Julia Schaefer

Julia is a sophomore from Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. She is a psychology major with a focus in life sciences and minoring in kinesology. Julia joined the lab because of her love for young children and to gain valuable experience in the research field. After college she plans on going to graduate school to continue her education. In her free time she enjoys being a part of club gymnastics, raising money for THON and being an active member in her sorority.





Mital Joshi

Mital is Junior majoring in Psychology with a focus in Neuroscience and minoring in Biology. In the future, she would like to go to Medical School to become a Neurologist. She is interested in the psychological and biological aspects of the brain and hopes to use what she learns from this lab to apply to her future. Currently, she is a director for Penn State’s Infusion, and she is a member of THON, and Psi Chi National Honors Society.




Mackenzie Kim

Mackenzie is a sophomore from Moorestown, New Jersey. She is pursuing a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology and on track for an HDFS minor. She joined this lab due to her love of children and her strong interest in pursuing a career in research. She plans to continue working in this lab throughout her undergrad at Penn State, and wants to further her education by attending graduate school after she graduates in 2021. Outside of this lab, Mackenzie is in Penn State’s Psi Chi National Honors Society, as well as on the executive board for CHAARG (Changing Health, Attitudes and Actions to Recreate Girls)



Jayne Snisky

Jayne is a senior from Westchester, New York. She is majoring in Psychology and minoring in Human Development and Family Studies. Jayne wanted to be apart of this lab to learn more about the research process. She is also interested in working with children when she graduates, making this the perfect lab to be apart of! Jayne is apart of the parent coding team. She is excited to be on this team and continue to learn more about research.
