All Community Service Federal Work-Study participants are required to obtain each of the following clearance documents prior to placement with a Community Partner:
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance
- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
- Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprinting
Clearances will be obtained during the hiring process and are initiated by PSU upon hire. CSFWS students hired after July 2020 will receive their clearances at no cost. Clearances are valid for five years from the date of issue.
Reimbursement for Expenses Incurred
All Community Service Federal Work-Study participants hired into the program prior to August 2020 are eligible for reimbursement for fees incurred to obtain the required clearances, once they have been paid for 50 hours of their FWS award. To receive reimbursement, students must notify the Office of Student Aid via email at communityservicefws@psu.edu that they have reached 50 hours and submit receipts for each item for which they are requesting reimbursement. A reimbursement form will be made available at that time.
