When discussing conspiracy theories, it is necessary to talk about the holy grail of conspiracies: the Mandela Effect. Here’s a little background into this theory. The Mandela Effect started with the controversy of when Nelson Mandela died. See, many people distinctly remember him dying in prison in the 1980s. They even remember seeing news clips and news coverage over this account, however, Nelson Mandela actually lived on and died in 2013. So how can so many people remember something that never happened so distinctly? Some believers of the Mandela Effect think that somewhere along the line the Earth went through a black hole and we are now living in an alternate universe. Let me list for you some of the more popular Effects and you can come up with your own conclusion.
Let’s start with famous movies. These are some of the ones that get to me the most because I can remember very clearly hearing these lines in these movies. Not to mention that everyone talks about these lines, yet they were never said:
- “Luke, I am your father” was never said by Darth Vader. He actually said “No, I am your father”
- Hannibal Lector in the movie Silence of the Lambs NEVER said “Hello Clarice”
- Remember the world famous line from everyone’s favorite childhood move Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? Yeah well it was never said. When talking to the mirror, the evil queen says “Magic Mirror on the wall” not “Mirror Mirror on the wall”
Now let’s discuss some famous brands that I think purposely changed their brand just to mess with us.
- What’s your favorite brand of hot dogs? Oscar Meyer? Nope. It’s Oscar Mayer.
- Remember Monopoly? You know that game that takes 20 hours and would break apart even the closest of families? Yeah well the little character for Monopoly doesn’t have a monocle like so many remember.
- What peanut butter did your mom buy you as a kid? Well, it wasn’t Jiffy because that never existed.
- Smokey the Bear is actually just called Smokey Bear
- White Out is spelt Wite Out
Now, here are a few more examples of the Mandela Effect that are relatively popular in this community:
- Chartreuse is a shade of green not a shade of pink
- There was never a picture of King Henry VIII eating a turkey leg
- In the famous song “We are the Champions” by Queen, the song ends with “‘Cause we are the champions” there is no “Of the world” at the end.
Lastly, the one that got me started on Mandela Effects:
- The Berenstein Bears is actually The Berenstain Bears
What’s even creepier about this theory is that some people actually have proof of the “alternate universe.” For example, some have books that say “The Berenstein Bears.” There are so many more examples of the Mandela Effect. So, please, continue your dive into this conspiracy theory and decide for yourself whether you believe it or not.
This blog post was extremely well written and compelling. I honestly had never heard of the Mandela Effect and now I’m completely enraptured by this idea. I swear that I remember the Monopoly man having a monocle! And how is it the Berenstain Bears! I’m honestly extremely confused right now and I’m about to commence hours of research on this topic.
Also, I really liked the format on your blog. It was formatted in a great way, with bullet points and your inclusion of pictures, and it was easy to follow.
Great Work!
Very interesting. But I find it unlikely that this is evidence of alternate universes
You gotta believe, Avery! I’m riffing off of an Avengers 4 theory, but what if the timeline had a glitch somewhere and the way to fix it was by mashing two timelines together? Or what if a small number of people were somehow sent to this timeline and passed on their knowledge to others?
I mean, how else would we explain the Mister Rogers theme song switch up? Or how about the fact that Sinbad never starred in a 90s movie about a genie; people distinctly remember this movie despite it never existing and Sinbad’s own existence that it didn’t exist. What other explanations would you give to this phenomena? I’m on my computer, but imagine the side-eyeing emoji because I’m curious.
Idk man, I don’t have a better explanation but I’m just not sold on the idea! *insert guy shrugging emoji*
SERN COLIDER CHANGED THE WORLD.as we once new it!
