Everyone’s heard of the Beatles. They were a British band that became a world wide sensation. However there is an eerie theory surrounding the band. The theory that Paul is dead.
Theorists believe that bass player and singer Paul McCartney died in a fiery car crash in 1966 (in fact, this theory was started when Paul’s car was involved in an accident and newspapers printed claiming that “Paul is Dead”), but the accident was covered up because the other members were fearful of how his death would impact their success and how the fans would react. So, they covered it up by placing a double in for Paul: William Shears Campbell, a man who had won a Paul McCartney look alike contest. It is told that the Beatles left clues in their music and album covers following Paul’s untimely death to subtly let fans know of the news. Here are a few clues:
- At the end of the song “Strawberry Fields Forever”, many claim to hear John Lennon sing “I buried Paul”
- If you play the song “Revolution 9”, the phrase “Turn me on, dead man” can be heard.
- On their most famous album cover, “Abbey Road”, the four members (Paul, John, Ringo, and George) are seen walking across a cross-walk in a straight line in the order of a funeral procession. John is leading the line dressed in all white like a priest. Next is Ringo who is dressed in all black like a undertaker. After Ringo is Paul, the corpse, who is the only one barefoot. Lastly is George who is wearing jeans like a gravedigger would.
- Also noted on the “Abbey Road” cover is the license plate of the car in the background. It reads “28IF” which many people believe to mean that Paul would’ve been 28 if he was still alive when the album came out.
- If the ending of “I’m so Tired” is played backwards, it sounds like Lennon is saying “Paul is a dead man, miss him, miss him, miss him”
Now many of these “clues” have been debunked, but some theorists remain loyal to the idea that Paul is dead. What do you think? Do you think Paul died that day and was replaced by an imposter? Or do you think this was all a hoax planned by the Beatles or Capitol Records to gain more attention for the group? Or do you think this is all a bunch of crap?
Thank you for the image above.I have been looking almost everywhere for proof.
