CNN Exposed

Fig. 1 NYPost.com

In a flurry of tweets and post last week James O’Keefe, founder of project Veritas, exposed the director of CNN describing CNN as propaganda.  After this James has been removed from twitter due to him exposing the director of CNN admitting that they use CNN to persuade the publics opinion on issues they want.

Early last week James O’Keefe secretly recorded the director of CNN claiming that CNN’s goal was to promote the propaganda of the democratic party. He said they were successful in their narratives about former president Donald Trump successfully pushing him out of office. He then stated that the next goal for CNN was to push for more climate control regulations.  Also, he confirmed that the reason why they made such a big deal about the COVID-19 pandemic was because fear sales.

For conservatives and republicans this is CNN just confirming what many believed to be true in the first place. Which is that CNN is a left-wing propaganda machine churning and turning out stories to help the democratic party even at the costs of the truth. Therefore, CNN has a direct interest in making Americans fearful not only of a pandemic but of each other. We can see this in the constant exploitation of race on CNN, pitting white Americans against black Americans, and brother against brother.

Shortly after James O’Keefe and project veritas posted about this on twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and many other platforms his account was permanently banned from Twitter. The reason Twitter gave for banning his account was that he operated multiple fake accounts. This reason was very superficial and lacked any hard evidence, not to mention that the timing of this occurrence lined up perfectly after he exposed CNN. If for no other reason than optics, even if he was operating multiple accounts, twitter should have waited to ban him simply because it looks as though they are attempting to cover the derriere of CNN by silencing him.

However, James O’Keefe is not taking this sitting down like many people do. In a statement he released over the weekend he said that “Most people do not have the time, money, effort, and energy to pursue defamation cases like these but here at project veritas we do, and we have never lost a case” He then went on to explain in an 8-minute Instagram video how he had committed no wrongdoing and how all the evidence against him was fictitious. This Monday O’Keefe and project Veritas filed a defamation lawsuit against Twitter CNN. Hopefully, this will be the first in a long line of lawsuits making social media companies think twice before banning those who disagree with them ideologically. O’Keefe and his lawyers are very optimistic that they will win this case with ease.

What Really Happened To George Floyd?

Fig.1 NYT.com

This will most likely be the most controversial post I have made this year but because of the politicization surrounding the death of George Floyd. However, I believe it is important to be updated and aware of what really happened. Often people are quick to  assume things about the people involved in the incident without knowing the relevant details. This leads people to have opinions about an issue they know almost nothing about. Many members of the media have contributed to this fog, because they spin the narrative of “racist white cop kills unarmed black man” to further their agenda.

Lets start with the background of the case. George Floyd a Minneapolis resident was reported to police because he used a counterfeit 20 dollar bill to buy a pack of cigarettes. When the police arrived they attempted to detain George Floyd and what most Americans saw was derrick Chovin on the neck of George Floyd for minutes until he was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Fig.2 Washingtonpost.com

If this was truly what happened then this would be an open and shut case. However what actually happened was much more complicated than it seems. For those who watch the full videos of the events that unfolded they can begin to get a better understanding of the tragedy. So what actually happened? Looking at the event again George Floyd used a counterfeit 20 dollar bill to buy a pack of cigarettes and when the clerk noticed the note was fake asked for Floyd to return the cigarettes and leave. Floyd refused and so the clerk called the police and explained the situation. When the police arrived Floyd was in his car with members of his family. The officers requested for him to get out of the car while they detained him so they could take him to jail to be processed. Floyd got out stubbornly and allowed the officers to arrest him. While he was cuffed Floyd stated that he would like to go to the ground and the officers allowed him to. It is important to mention that at this point George Floyd had overdosed on fentanyl.

The officers tried to get him back up and into the police car but Floyd not wanting to comply kicked one of the officers in arm to get his arms off of him. Floyd said that he would get in the car if one of the officers would sit in the back with him and roll down the windows. The officers agreed but George was still unwilling to go. At this point Derick Chovin tried to restrain Floyd as onlookers gathered and threatened the officers. Floyd was eventually take to the hospital when the ambulance arrived but as previously mention died.

There are many relevant facts that I mentioned that most people do not hear by the media, which is why I felt the need to clarify the situation for those who wish to have an objective layout of the events that occurred.

Gina Carano and Morgan Wallen cancelled!

The next wave of celebrity cancellations has come, and Gina Carano and Morgan Wallen are on the list. The fan favorite, Disney television series the Mandalorian has decided to officially cancel Gina Carano. This move comes after months of Lucasfilm reportedly trying to find a reason to get rid of her for her not so controversial tweets.

Back in November, Gina tweeted that she believed that election votes should be securely counted and monitored. It was obvious that she was not thrilled with the reports of widespread voter fraud and she used her voice to raise awareness as celebrities often do.

However, after her last tweet comparing liberals, who dislike and wish to censor conservatives, to German citizens in Nazi Germany who reported on their Jewish neighbors. Until this Carano was supposed to star in her own spin off show called rangers of the republic. Unfortunately, this was the last straw and Carano was fired early last week.  This move draws much criticism from those who hate cancel culture. They point out that the actor who starred in the Mandalorian also posted a very similar tweet, comparing Jewish children in jail cells in Nazi Germany to America putting kids in cages.

Nevertheless, there is hope for Gina, as an outspoken conservative, the multi-media conservative news outlet, the DailyWire has decided to giver her, her own movie. Co-owner of the DailyWire, and political commentator, Ben Shapiro said in a statement that he, and his executive team decided to let Carano produce and star in her own movie. In a tweet Gina said that “they can’t cancel us if don’t let them” which Mr. Shapiro echoed on the Ben Shapiro Show last week.

Another Hollywood country star Morgan Wallen has also been cancelled after saying the N word to one of his friends at a bar/nightclub. Wallen has since apologized for his actions. However, this was not enough to save him from the “Woke Mob” In my opinion I hate all forms and uses of the N word. I believe it is derogatory and is evil, regardless of the skin color of the person using it. I think that if more people understood the historical significance behind the word, it would not be so popularized by those who Americans idolize. That being said, after reviewing the footage I do not believe that Wallen was using this word to describe his white friend, as a buddy as many in Hollywood do today.

The American Divide

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez otherwise known as AOC is a democratic representative from Ney York City, she has recently sparked friction with republican Senator Ted Cruz from Texas. It started when AOC tweeted about how it was immoral for investment companies like Robinhood to pause the trading of certain stocks such as GameStop and AMC theatres.

To this Sen. Ted Cruz Responded that he agreed that it too was wrong, a slight symbol that maybe after the past crazy years there would be some return to normal, civilized politics. However, AOC responded to Sen Cruz with another, more critical tweet.

Attitudes like this highlight the growing tension between the two parties, even when they both agree on what is wrong and right. It seems to me that the only thing that separates them from working together is whether they have a D or R in front of their name. The immense lack of trust on both sides of the isle does not help tensions either as both sides blame the other for all the Nation’s ills.

We continue to see this divide not only in politicians but in everyday citizens and celebrities who have disowned family members and friends who disagree with them politically. Especially within the past four years democrats and republicans seem to have lost focus on the country and instead focused on destroying and humiliating the opposite party. I believe that both sides need to start to respect the values, opinions, and viewpoints of others and attempt to understand where people across the aisle are coming from. This would lead to increased cooperation that would mutually help both parties and more importantly, the American people.

There are many problems facing our nation, most of which cannot, and will not be fixed overnight; however, if we are to move forward, we can only do so together, and united in the principles that this country was founded on the led to billions being lifted to freedom and prosperity.

Contrastingly, if this divide is not healed relatively soon and both sides do not put aside their differences and focus on making life better for Americans; then not only will their bases become more polarized and radicalized, but they will contribute to the destruction of political system they claim to respect and revere so solemnly.  I say that It is time for politicians to stop being so partisan, work together, and help the American people.

Civic Discourse in America

Civic discourse in the United States seems to have today broken down in everyday life. There are numerous reasons for this occurrence including big tech censorship, partisan divides, and a lack of trust between the two dominant parties. However, it was not like this and these occurrences have only happened within the past few decades, particularly starting in the early 2000’s.

Civil discussion in the United States started with the nation founding in 1776, and to a large degree was designed in a way to make sure most people do not agree with each other, and to make sure that unless there is a unanimous consensus thigs in America do not change too radically.  In fact, Madison in Federalist 21 argues that factions and different opinions are good for democracy and freedom. He says, “Liberty is to faction what air is to fire, an aliment without which it instantly expires instantly expires”.

Unfortunately, today in America it has become increasingly difficult to have opinions that are not held by the majority. For example, over this past summer YouTube, demonetized, censored, and banned users who ideologically disagreed with prevalent opinions that are more prominent and acceptable in American culture.

Actions like those taken by YouTube were widely criticized but, demonstrated the effect Big tech companies and media platforms have on the ability for Americans to have civil discourse. The capability for companies such as YouTube to simply ban those who disagree with them ideologically with the click of a button is appalling. After all, if you take away the voice of those who disagree with you then technically there exist no opposition. When YouTube’s bans, and demonetizations, were finished many believed they had no voice and even more felt as though their voices did not matter. Fig. 2 Vox . com

Therefore, it is important to keep as many channels of communication as open as possible because once American civil discourse breaks down, and one side feels as though they are not heard then if they ever get power, they too will seek to repress the opposing side and only value opinions from those who think like them. This cycle repeats itself until there is a complete breakdown of American politics, and institutions that have lasted for hundreds of years vanish.

Overall, this occurrence demonstrates how important the ability to have civil discourse is in the United States. However, with the constant encroachment on the ability to speak by media platforms, civil discourse is coming more and more under threat. Thusly, It is more important now than it perhaps has ever been to encourage civil discourse and advocate for fewer restrictions not more.
