What is the most important thing in your everyday life? I can’t speak for everyone but I’m pretty confident a cellular device ranks among one of the top possessions for most people. Whether you use it for communication, playing games, or other purposes, a cellphone is a very useful device that so many people own. Year after year you see new version of phones; the iPhone6 goes to the iPhone7, the Galaxy S6 goes to the S7 but with each upgrade you still go from one phone to the next phone. Imagine a new way to use your cellphone. A new way to send those texts, make calls, or even play games? And, imagine you can do all of these things simply by just touching your wrist!
The product I’m about to talk about is something I saw when it was just beginning to be a concept. The thought of such a device in my opinion was so incredible and I craved having it so bad. After months of waiting for new updates on the success of making the product to be met with only disappointed, this device soon fell off my radar and a fair amount of time has passed. Luckily, something had recently reminded me of this product and now I get to see how close it is to becoming a real product and get to write about it now. This product is Cicret.
Cicret is nothing more than a relatively simple looking bracelet. To the eye it looks like nothing special but inside is something far beyond your imagination. First of all, this braclet can transform your forearms into a mobile touch screen. Through a small projector and many sensors, this device can make a screen appear on your forearm and allow you to navigate the screen simple by touching your skin. This makes simple texting, calls, web searches, really anything very easy to do. All that’s needed is a flick of the wrist and you can do anything.
The thing that makes this device so special is that it’s not just some apple watch that can migrate parts of your phone into a watch on your wrist, instead this device is practically the phone itself. With its own 32GB of memory, its own Wi-Fi/Bluetooth component, USB port, etc., this is literally a phone in itself!
According to their website, this product is now fully developed and functional but funds are needed to help with product and other factors. To me, this is great news because clearly they are still moving forward which gives me great hope that shortly this product may be out in the market! Once it is being sold I believe I will be getting one very fast! But there are some questions that I have about it and becasuse not much is said about the product I don’t have the answers. The first is with all this integrated technology, how heavy and how bulky is the actual final product? Will it be a 10lb weight connected to my arm or will it be a few ounces? Another problem with this device is that it still require having a phone in some proximity. This isn’t a big problem for me but I just wanted to make it clear this doesn’t completely replace your device but simple makes it u can store is somewhere on your person and will never have to take it out. But maybe they are working toward a way to connect this to your phone without having the phone present? And my last question which I feel is extremely important, is how well do the sensors work? Can they really distinguish between the small keyboard when I’m sending a text, will it really be able to keep up with the quick, precise motions while I’m playing Fruit Ninja (as shown in their video)? Hopefully this product is a huge hit and is something I will be very fortunate to own!

I think we can all agree that the concept is very impressive, but the pictures that they advertise are nothing like the prototypes they’ve released so far. I’m not saying that they won’t achieve a product like in the pictures you have in this blog, all I’m saying is that that have a long way to go before they reach that. I really hope they do because this would open the door to a lot of technological innovation in areas we can’t imagine, and it’s also super cool!

I remember hearing about something like this a while back and I think it looks amazing. This is definitely one of those gadgets that makes you think “the future is now”. My two concerns are the strength of the mini projector light (will it be washed out in sunlight?) and the battery life of the bracelet because a powerful projector isn’t cheap on power.

This is one of the most impressive devices I have seen. Though it seems a novelty to me more than anything, it demonstrates a technological capacity I did not think we had to date. Please, keep us informed about these new developments in the world of modern technology.
