  • Speaker: Palestine
  • Audience: Israelis and Arab Palestinians, as well as Jews and Muslims of the world.
  • Message: Not only did Palestine exist before the formation of the State of Israel and the State of Palestine, but also, Jews and Muslims coexisted and thrived there together. The collective history of Palestine calls Jews and Muslims to find common ground, even in the midst of great conflict.
  • Ethos: This coin, the Palestinian mil, represents the official currency of the British Mandate of Palestine from 1927-1948.
  • Pathos: Despite differences in religion, Jews and Muslims are vital components of Palestinian history.
  • Logos: Many people make the claim that Palestine didn’t exist before 1948, yet this coin clearly indicates otherwise.

  1. I’ve always heard about the situation surrounding Palestine, both from those for and against the existence of Palestine, but I must admit I am horrifyingly uneducated on the topic. I want to learn more, so I look forward to hearing more about it in your speech! I think you have a really good base here, good luck with fleshing it out!

  2. I really like the choice of the coin and I think it will be really interesting to see its effect on the people. I can’t wait to hear the speech and learn more about the history of the people of Palestine.

  3. It’s hard to comment on an outline, but I can tell that this coin will be an interesting artifact. Even though it is from about half a century ago, the coin’s relevance in today’s society and issues is just as important as it was years ago. I’m excited to hear your full speech about it!
