Who We Are:

Crop Mobs is a cooperative organization working to connect community members and local farmers in an effort to introduce more people to sustainable agricultural practices.

What We Do:

Crop Mobs organizes a group of volunteers, comprised of Penn State students and community members, to head to a local farm for the day to work on a much needed task with a farmer, all while learning about agriculture and sustainable practices first hand and sharing a local meal together. The mission of our work is to establish greater access and knowledge of traditional farming practices and to expose people to different agricultural methods.

Our Origins:

State College Crop Mobs started in the Fall of 2013 following a generous grant that was awarded to then professor, James Eisenstein, who has since retired from teaching, but remains the main contact for this organization. Since that time, Crop Mobs has grown to working on roughly 20 local farms, participating in farmers markets, and engaging in educational field trips to locations outside of Centre County. Although we are not a club at the University, we are affiliated with the Sustainability Institute as seen here.
