Dr. Tiffany A. Mathews
Tiffany A. Mathews is the Director of the Office of Science Engagement in the Eberly College of Science (ECoS) at Penn State. Her work focuses on helping undergrads find research opportunities, connect with employers for co-ops, internships, and careers, and prepare students considering graduate school.
Tiffany grew up in upstate New York and earned her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Buffalo, and her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Penn State. She was a postdoc at Wake Forest’s School of Medicine. In 2007, she joined the faculty at Wayne State University in the Department of Chemistry focused on using analytical techniques to probe the brain. Since coming back to Penn State in 2014, she has pivoted towards developing programs and initiatives that help students succeed both in and outside the classroom. Since returning to Penn State, she has been a Chemistry Lecturer, the Coordinator for the Women in Engineering Program (WEP), the Director and co-PI for the Chemistry REU: Catalysis & Motion, and the Program Co-Director of the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) Education and Outreach. Tiffany doesn’t have much free time being a mom to three boys. When she is given some downtime, she enjoys reading, skiing, walking, and traveling with her family.
