Dr. Stephanie Wissel

Stephanie Wissel is a professor of Physics and Astronomy and Astrophysics at Penn State. She grew up in Cincinnati Ohio, went to college at the University of Dallas, and graduate school at the University of Chicago. Prior to coming to Penn State, she was a postdoc at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory and UCLA and a professor at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. Throughout her career she’s been interested in particle and multi-messenger astrophysics, which combines information from multiple messenger particles to understand more about the extreme universe and fundamental physics. She’s run experiments on mountains in Arizona and California, beam tests at accelerators, and logged several deployments in Antarctica and Greenland. Stephanie loves hiking, board games, and traveling with her family.
