I am very glad to see you checking out my blog again! I welcome you to the runner-up for the most impactful soccer player. Because this list was so difficult, I will also be including an honorable mentions list to the start of the number one entry, but this post is all about my number two player. He is my favorite goalkeeper ever and is absolutely incredible in the net. Out of all the goalkeepers I have seen play, he does every goalkeeping aspect the best. My number two player is none other than David de Gea!
David de Gea is the main goalkeeper for his national team, Spain, and his club team, Manchester United. Being a Manchester City fan, I despise Manchester United, but I cannot at all deny de Gea’s ability. De Gea was always a very solid keeper, but he really began to separate himself from the rest of the competition about four years ago. Man United is really good at bolstering their attack but never hasn’t done well with buying or building up a great defense. I believe this is one of the main reasons de Gea became so amazing. Because of the poor defensive organization, de Gea had to preform save after save to keep his team in the game. Man United continued to do well in the English Premier League with such a poor defense because of the countless number of amazing saves. I genuinely believe he is the best goalkeeper to ever live, and at 28 years old, he has more than enough time to make even more of a case for that title. He sadly doesn’t have a huge resume. Like I said, Man United has struggled with putting together a good team, so he has been a Premier League champion only once. On the national side, he was not selected for the 2010 World Cup, where Spain was the victor, and played little in the 2014 World Cup because Iker Cassillas, another legendary goalkeeper, was Spain’s go-to keeper. But with the soon retirement of Casillas, de Gea will become the primary goalkeeper and will likely continue his excellent form with Spain’s strong team. With all that being said, he still has shown off his incredible abilities and is always doing whatever he can to keep a clean sheet.
David de Gea is one of those player with so many unbelieve highlights. He is totally captivating while playing, and every move he makes looks so gracious. Goalkeepers train their whole lives just to be able to do half the things that de Gea can do. He is the best example of a perfect goalkeeper, and he deserves all the praise he gets plus more.
