Introduction to Management Information System

My name is Danielka, but some people also call me Danny. I come from Nicaragua, originally raised in a city named Estelí, situated nearly 2 hours away from the capital. Estelí is celebrated for its thriving tobacco industry, producing some of the finest tobaccos in the world. I made the life-changing decision to move to the United States when I was 20 years old, settling in San Diego. Recently, I relocated to San Francisco to chase my dreams of completing my education and securing a brighter future. As an immigrant, I’ve faced numerous obstacles, from mastering a new language and adapting to a different culture to the profound challenge of leaving my family behind. These experiences have truly shaped me into a resilient individual. I eagerly anticipate my upcoming second semester at Penn State, where I am committed to deepening my understanding in various fields. I am confident that the knowledge and skills I gain will greatly enhance both my personal and professional life.

I am dedicated to mastering the Management Information System course because it promises to enhance my expertise in my current field and contribute to my future career aspirations. As my role at work now involves greater financial and bookkeeping responsibilities, enrolling in this course will empower me to excel in these areas, ultimately strengthening my professional performance. I observed my superiors delivering impressive presentations and emphasizing the significance of Excel knowledge and data analytics. I have no doubt that during this course and learning Excel can significantly enhance my productivity and creativity in my work field. In Addition to enhancing my knowledge in my current job, the Management Information System course will equip me with skills to solve complex business problems using information technology. I enrolled in this class not only because it is a requirement for my degree but also because Excel in particular, is a major application widely used in various business scenarios. Now that I am taking this course, I have sharpened my skills in creating visually appealing presentations, which has given me recognition, especially during meetings.

I am pursuing a degree because I aspire to build a career in Property Management and later transition into the finance industry. Ultimately, I aim to operate my own business that offers comprehensive real estate and financial services, combining my expertise in both fields for the benefit of clients. I see education as a vital steppingstone toward becoming a well-rounded professional capable of excelling in both Property Management and finance. Career aside, I also want to set an example for future generations in my family. I want to break the cycle of believing that education is only a dream for those who can afford it and help them understand that it is an achievable goal. Ultimately, I am pursuing my degree because it brings me joy, and I aspire to achieve the same level of success as the people around me, hoping to be like them one day.

I recognize that my experience with information systems is not as extensive as I’d like it to be. My knowledge is somewhat limited, and there’s a need for me to learn more to pursue my future goals effectively. I’m enthusiastic about enhancing my skills, particularly in areas covered by the course, such as productivity, information system development, and tools like spreadsheets and computer skills. I recognize that completing this course will equip me with valuable tools to enhance my performance in my current job and become a more valuable employee. SIMnet has also been an incredible platform that profoundly evaluates my skills. These skills will undoubtedly easy my future work. I am looking forward to the many opportunities, challenges and rewarding experiences this class will bring to my growth and business opportunities.
