What do the Rams, Bengals, Bills, Titans, Texans, Jets, Buccaneers, and the Dolphins all have in common? Ryan Fitzpatrick was on their team at some point during his 16-year career. The traveling quarterback has not proven himself as an NFL superstar, or even an above average player for that matter, but he has stuck around nonetheless. The Harvard graduate entered the league as an aspiring starting QB, but has since found himself filling numerous backup roles.
Fitzpatrick’s career as primarily a backup quarterback is not implying that he never has his moments. Seemingly every year, fans catch a glimpse of “Fitzmagic”, or games where the veteran QB morphs into an elite form of himself and puts up superstar numbers. Fitzmagic has been in full form this season as a Dolphin, before being benched this week in wake of rookie quarterback Tua Tagovialoa’s quest to eventual stardom.
As a Football fan, nothing gets me more excited than when I see Ryan Fitzpatrick stuffing the stat sheet. Not only do I respect the veteran leader, but I also love to see his hilarious postgame apparel. Did I mention Fitz also has the best beard in football?
Fitzpatrick’s most famous postgame fit (pictured above) was not even actually his own. Following a stellar performance versus the Philadelphia Eagles (much to my dismay), Fitz stole WR Desean Jackson’s postgame clothing. During the interview Fitzpatrick said through a smile, “We just have to stay humble” (NY Daily News). If this charade had been put on by any other player, I likely would have viewed it as cocky and unnecessary….. but Fitz deserves to show off a little after all he’s done for the league!
No matter where Ryan Fitzpatrick travels to next, there’s no doubt in my mind that we will see him rocking some elaborate postgame outfit matched with his extremely powerful beard, after he has one of those insane games where he throws for 400 yards
I love seeing what figure in athletics you choose to look at each week! I love Fitzpatrick’s “underdog” status matched with such an outlandish personality! He really uses the NFL platform as a stage!
