The Vosburgs

Dash is lucky enough to be paired with the Vosburg Family. Kyle Vosburg is a THON child that was diagnosed with leukemia. He was born May 17th, 1999. He loves superheroes, spending times with his friends, and cheering on the Steelers. He would like to become a police officer. Kyle used his Make-A-Wish to take his family to Hawaii!

Kyle’s Story: From his mom – “He was never sick. He was always my healthy child. Sometime around the end of January he was getting periodic nosebleeds. We just assumed it was the dry air in home from wood stove. Fast forward to February. He got a headache, which we didn’t think anything about. He had it for a few days, went to school, and never complained. Over weekend it was still bothering him so I told him I was taking him to dr on Monday. That day, February 27th we went to the doctor. The diagnosis was migraine and they gave him a magic cocktail to get rid of it. They said to take Tuesday off from school and then he would be fine. That evening his headache came back worse so I called drs office. They said go to ER for CT Scan. While in ER they took blood, gave him a better magical cocktail for migraines and we were waiting to go for CT. Around midnight the dr came in, sat down, and told us his blood work was off. He had already spoken to Hershey and he needed to be transferred immediately. That’s when we 1st heard of Leukemia. 4:30 in the morning we arrived in Hershey where they took more blood and did tests. By 9 am we were given the actual diagnosis that indeed he did have leukemia. It was a whirlwind from there. He had Acute Myeloid Leukemia and treatment needed to start ASAP! Through it all Kyle was a trooper! He never lost his spirits, positive attitude, etc. He turned 18 in hospital and also graduated there a week after he was in ICU!! He is my hero!”

Kyle has been cancer free ever since then and he is doing great!
