David M.Williams

David M.Williams

Dr. Williams received his B.S.E. in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan in 2008. Thereafter, he attended Stanford University and received his Masters and PhD degrees in the aeronautics and astronautics department in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Following graduate school, he worked for the Boeing Company in the research and technology division from 2013-2016. In 2016, he accepted the position of tenure-track assistant professor in the mechanical engineering department at Pennsylvania State University. He currently holds this position and works part-time as a contractor with the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington DC.

Jude Anderson

Jude Anderson

Jude graduated from Virginia Tech in 2017 with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering.  Has a background in solid mechanics from working at Penn State’s Applied Research Lab, but took an interest in CFD and joined Dr. William’s lab in early 2020.  He is currently pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering.

Karthik Ganeshan

Karthik Ganeshan

Karthik is a PhD candidate in mechanical engineering and received his B.Eng. from M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology, India. His research interests are in the field of computational sciences, focusing on flow physics at the microscale and materials for energy storage. His current project involves capturing non-continuum effects in fluid flow in supercapacitors using tools such as the kinetic theory. In his spare time, he enjoys playing his guitar and can often be found hiking on a nearby trail.

Trenton Gobel

Trenton Gobel

Trent Gobel is currently pursuing a graduate Mechanical Engineering degree from Penn State University. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Western New England University in 2020, where he performed research in the fields of metamaterials and acoustic cloaking. His research areas at Penn State include four-dimensional computational fluid dynamics and hypersonics. Trent aims to pursue a career combining mechanical engineering and aesthetic design, preferably relating to the automotive or aerospace industries. Barring engineering, Trent finds interest in cars (driving, maintaining, and detailing), skateboarding, snowboarding, computer building, weightlifting, and playing music.

Logan Larose

Logan Larose

Originally from the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, Logan attended the University of Vermont as a Green & Gold scholar, where he earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Computer Science. During his undergrad, Logan worked under Dr. Jihong Ma in the Laboratory for Advanced Materials where he performed research in the field of metamaterials and earned a departmental award from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UVM for distinguished undergraduate research. Logan’s interests are broad, spanning much of the Mechanical Engineering discipline, but are highlighted by system dynamics, fluids and fluid dynamics, as well as numerical simulation. Logan hopes to build a career at the intersection of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, whether that is in industry, academia, or a national laboratory. Outside of his studies, Logan enjoys riding and fixing motorcycles, biking, and cross country skiing. Logan is currently attending Pennsylvania State University on track to earn his Ph.D. from the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Edward Miller

Edward Miller

Edward Miller received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University and stayed to continue his education. He is currently working on his PhD with Professor David Williams. His research interests include high order CFD and LES turbulence modeling.
