The Closing of Dahmer’s Killings

Hey guys! This post will be the ending of the Dahmer series where I point out how the Wisconsin Police department helped the infamous Jeffrey Dahmer commit his crimes. But this post will identify the victims, Dahmer’s ruling, and my opinion on how this serial killer got away with murders when he shouldn’t have. To start off I will include the list of his victims.

  1. Steven Hicks, 18
  2. Steven Tuomi, 24
  3. Jamie Doxtator, 14
  4. Richard Guerrero, 25
  5. Anthony Sears, 26
  6. Raymond Smith, 33
  7. Edward W. Smith, 28
  8. Ernest Miller, 22
  9. David C. Thomas, 23
  10. Curtis Straughter, 18
  11. Errol Lindsey, 19
  12. Anthony “Tony” Hughes, 31
  13. Konerak Sinthasomphone, 14
  14. Matt Turner, 20
  15. Jeremiah Weinberger, 23
  16. Oliver Lacy, 23
  17. Joseph Bradehoft, 25

Now just by looking at the number of victims and their ages, its clear that he had a type. Young and majority were apart of minorities such as Native American and African Americans. But what I would like to highlight is the two young boys, Konerak (I talked about him a few times) and Jamie Doxtator.

I’ve never heard of another young boy besides Konerak, so finding this out that it was another young boy who was the youngest on Dahmer’s victim list is actually sad and terrifying.

To give a brief overview, James Doxtator was the youngest of Dahmer’s killings and he was 14 years old at the time of his murder. He was a troubled child and caught Dahmer by running away from his abusive stepfather (ring a bell?). This is similar to Konerak who went with Dahmer with money because his family was struggling financially. It seems to me that Dahmer liked them very young with home issues so it was easy for them to go with him. But Doxtator was Dahmer’s third victim and his first underaged boy. Thinking about this makes my stomach twist because these little boys were struggling already with home problems and to think Dahmer take this as an advantage to kill them for his pleasure is unsettling!

Let’s get to the pleasing part, well the part where his terror ends. On July 25th, 1991 Dahmer was indicted with four counts of first-degree murder, an then another 11 counts of first-degree murder on August 22nd, 1991 with his Wisconsin killings. But he wasn’t indicted with the attempted murder of Edwards or the murder of Steve Tuomi because of “insufficient evidence”(which I call BS, if a man that disappeared was last seen with Dahmer, it should be no question that he was murdered by him).

In all honesty, when I first watched the Netflix series, I knew these murders were bad but after researching it and doing blog posts about the gruesome details, it’s actually way worse. I know its less likely to have serial killers like Dahmer happen again, but if it was still happening to the day, I would be terrified for all my guy friends/family. His killings still send shock waves through communities and the very little victims who made it out was severely affected. For instance, his almost last victim, Tracy Edwards spoke against Dahmer in court and he was the key that led to Dahmer’s eviction. After the conviction, Edwards was arrested for throwing a man to his death off a Milwaukee bridge. Not only that but he was homeless and been switching shelters. Seeing that he lived a life of crime after Dahmer shows that him almost being killed changed his life drastically to the point he started doing things himself. But the jury don’t think about stuff like that when putting there opinions in for convictions.

Overall, I think the Jeffrey Dahmer case is a very sad case that shouldn’t be explored no more (like shows, documentaries, etc). It is very painful to watch and I can imagine how all these victims families feel hearing their families stories over and over again. I know I wouldn’t like it because it hurts to talk about someone who you once loved get brutally killed, ate, or taken apart by a sick individual. People like Dahmer can always be stopped when people actually pay attention to what’s happening. The Wisconsin police department could’ve easily stopped Dahmer before the rest of his crimes were committed, but they were lazy, homophobic, and racist! Quite frankly, Wisconsin’s police department should also held accomplice to Dahmer because they helped him in so many ways by letting him commit these crimes. All because they didn’t agree with gay people? Or because they were racist towards minorities? It gives them the right to ignore murder or what could have been potential murder? If it wasn’t for advanced technology, the world would still be going through these horrible things and I leave you with one question to end this blog series. When will the discrimination and favoritism against certain communities end?

Episode 6: Tony Hughes

Hey guys, back at it with another post for you about the Jeffrey Dahmer series Monster. This episode will cover one of the most known victims, Tony Hughes, whom was a black gay male who was deaf and taken advantage by Dahmer. This episode covered some police ground towards

the end of the episode and we will also talk about the effect of that. The episode opens up to Hughes’s mom giving birth to him and then the doctor diagnosing him as deaf. His mom Shirley Hughes, was not a fan of this and this was only the starting of her suffering. It then pictures Hughes in the infamous night club Club 119. I can see this was a very commonplace for gays to gather around at this time. But this takes Hughes talking to a male and the male finding out he’s deaf and starts to laugh at Hughes. This make Hughes a little self conscious and it ends the conversation. Hughes point out he wanted someone to flirt with and take out on dates when he was talking to his friends. He longed for a partner and to have his dreams come true. Well this is what he thought when he first met Dahmer.

Tony is become aware of his surroundings by the untimely loss of his friend Rico. He realizes that life is too short and that he wants to do things his own way. He believes he still have dreams to accomplish before he reaches the end of the road. He decided to move to Madison, New York but his mom didn’t like this. His mom  questioned this move, especially in consideration of his hearing loss. Tony talked her out of it and  convince her that he can achieve his goals on his own and that his hearing disability won’t stop him from succeeding. This was a very sad moment to reflect on for the mom because she knew something bad could happen to him because of his hearing loss and she tried to protect him as much as she could. But when he encountered Dahmer, there was no turning back.

Hughes meet Dahmer at a gay bar and they instantly lock eyes. Dahmer buys him a drink and they start to talk to each other and started to dance. This is where Dahmer starts to get the urge of his unsettling mind but he pushes them away and keep dancing with Hughes. Hughes  turns down his offer of another drink at first, but eventually agrees when Dahmer encourages him. Dahmer was trying  to add tablets to his drink but Hughes came back and interrupted him.  Following their dance, Hughes tells Dahmer that he likes him (which was a very bad mistake) and Dahmer replies with that he’s drunk and laughs it off. Dahmer initially invites Hughes back to his place but Hughes insisted that he had to earn him.  This is where you see Dahmer and Hughes spending a lot of time together which developed feelings between the two.

Tony is convinced to come to Jeff’s place. When they arrive, Jeff considers adding drugs to Tony’s drink but ultimately decides against it. That Jeff genuinely felt a connection to Tony and was trying to build a relationship with him is further supported by this. Jeff was trying to convey Tony, very quietly, that anyone who gets too near to him disappears forever, as is evident from the game they play. Tony takes Jeff’s meaning incorrectly and applies his own interpretation to it. Telling Jeff they could alter the game’s rules, he seems to be suggesting that he wouldn’t simply go and depart. After spending much of their time together, Jeff and Tony decide to stay up late. Because he is running late, Tony hastily leaves in the morning. When Tony tells Jeff that he’ll be back next week and that he should trust him, Jeff gets scared and asks when he’ll return. After a brief thought, Jeff decides against killing Tony. At the police station, we watch Tony’s mother declare him missing and file a missing person’s complaint. She continues, informing the officer that Tony was not only absent from work the day before, but also was not expected to be with her. The police are also told by her that Tony never ever attempted to contact her or his sisters.

Flyers asking people to look for Tony and pray for him are distributed by Tony’s mother, her relatives, and a few other people. Jeff adds cash to the contribution box there. Jeff, who may have been another victim of his, phones the family of Errol Lyndsey after drinking a lot. He hangs up after

telling his sister that Tony had entered the vortex and she shouldn’t search for him. Flashbacks support this by confirming that Jeff killed Tony with an axe. Jeff grabs a chunk of meat—likely Tony’s organ—from the refrigerator shortly after the phone call ends. He fried the food, adds pepper to season it, and serves it to himself. This was his sick way of becoming one with Hughes and this ends the episode.

Episode 5: Grandma’s House

Hey guys, this episode will focus on Dahmer’s killings and attempted killing of one of his victims and how the police reacted. Keep in mind this was all while at his Grandmother’s house. To start the episode off, it opens to 1991 when Dahmer is incarcerated and talking to detectives. In real life Dahmer was incarcerated at Columbia Correctional Facility and only served two

years there before he was rightfully killed. And I say rightfully because he wasn’t prosecuted with the death penalty but he should because personally
he was worse than Ted Bundy, who was a women serial killer. But back to the episode, Dahmer was talking about how at a new job of his in a chocolate factory he seen in the local newspaper about a boy, named Daniel Cizek, dying. He said that when he saw that, this made him go to the cementary Cizek was buried in and lay with him. Well attempt to lay with him, he claimed he wasn’t able to because the dirt was too hard and it would’ve taken him forever to dig it up. But still, that is kinda sick when you take a step back and look at the things he wanted to do, I mean laying with a dead man you never met? It is very psychotic, but we are talking about Dahmer.

One detective then asked Dahmer about Steven Hicks and Dahmer didn’t recall and this made the detective upset exclaiming he should at least know the innocent people he killed. I found that interesting because it shows that Dahmer didn’t really think when he killed, he just seen someone trying to leave him and irrationally acted on it. The detective also pointed out that Dahmer targeted certain people, more people from the poverty line like African Americans and latinos because they were more accessible and the police wouldn’t think twice about it. This I can believe because Dahmer didn’t really start his killings until he moved to into his apartment which was in a low income, high crime, high rates of black and latino families. In fact, Konerak was Latino and many of his other victims were black, including Ron Flowers which is the highlight of this episode.

Ron Flowers in real life

Ron was picked up by Dahmer on the side of the road after falling victim of having a dead car battery. Dahmer pulled him in by offering a car jump but they had to go to his Grandma’s house first. Once they got there, Dahmer started drinking beer and tried to convince Ron to go to his Grandmother’s basement. Ron declined, but this didn’t stop Dahmer, he gave Ron drugged coffee instead. All why this is happening, Dahmer’s grandma was worried about what was happening and kept asking Dahmer who was downstairs and what they were doing. While Ron was drugged passed out in the chair, Dahmer’s Grandma caught it and asked if Ron was okay and that she wasn’t gonna leave until Ron was okay or in the hospital. This resulted in the morning, Dahmer putting Ron on the bus, still drugged. Next thing you know, Ron was waking up in the hospital as a overdose case but he tells the nurse and then a detective he was drugged. This is where things get important.

At the police station, Ron told this to Detective Rauss. Additionally, he informed the investigator that he had spoken to others in the bathhouses about a man named Jeff who had been drugging people. Despite Ron providing an address, the cop lacked interest. As a result, Dt. Rauss went to see Jeffrey and granny to inquire about what had transpired. Nothing came of it, as was to be expected, and Ron is shocked that the detective is ready to believe “a white man with a criminal record over the word of a Black man” without one. This is another example of the racial politics at play in Dahmer’s atrocities getting unreported by the police.

Ending the episode off, it shows the ruling of Dahmer sexual assault against Konerak’s brother. He was sentenced to prison but was released only being there for a year. This also show favoritism towards the white population and inequality because if that was a black male standing behind bars, he would be sentenced to life immediately.

Episode 4: Life Transitions of Dahmer

Hey guys, back again with another overview of Monster. This episode also didn’t cover police material but the transitions of Dahmer life from graduating high school, attending Ohio state, joining and getting kicked out of the army, then moving in with his grandma. At the end of this episode it starts the beginning of how Dahmer got into his Wisconsin apartment. To start the episode off, it begins with Dahmer in a room with detectives explaining why it took him so long to kill again after his first victim. It goes back into high school with him trying to sneak into the National Honor Society school picture. To me this looked like he wanted to sit in somewhere and this was a chance. Well it didn’t go so well, the school committee seen it and scribbled Dahmer’s face out, increasing his feeling of unwanted. While examining his face crossed out in the yearbook, his dad and his new girlfriend Shari shows up to talk to Dahmer and check in on him. Little did his dad know that Dahmer’s mom left him to take care of himself and Dahmer developed alcohol abuse from this. His dad and him had a sit down about Dahmer’s future and it ended with Dahmer deciding to go to Ohio State to try to change his life. The crazy thing is Dahmer knew that something was wrong with him, but his dad ignored it thinking Dahmer was just being sarcastic.

In college, Dahmer didn’t do well, he failed all of his classes and reportedly had a 0.46 GPA. When his dad found this out, he was very disappointed with Dahmer, enlisting him in the army as punishment. Because he was kicked out of college, he had no choice but to go. When in the army, it didn’t get no better for his life. He was intrigued by the medical terms they talked about because he was a nurse for soldiers there. He learned the uses of medications such as Halcion, and used this to knock out some of the soldiers there. He would examine the body that seemed dead and would start to kiss and hover on them. But when his dad found out, all hell broke loose. After finding out he was discharged, his dad forced him to live with his grandma as his last resort. He addressed Dahmer’s drinking issue and stated it needed to stop and that Dahmer needed to get himself together. Dahmer everything but stop drinking, and being a serial killer of course.

When Jeffrey went job hunting, he discovered a position in a Polish butcher shop making sausages and handling meats. This was perfect for him, considering he loved cutting things and examining “meat”. One time, Dahmer’s grandma found a mannequin in his room and thought it was weird and threw it out. When Dahmer found out, he started to yell and be aggressive about the mannequin and this strained his relationship with his grandma.  That suggests he would require something—or someone—to take its place. He made an attempt to reassure her that it wasn’t a gay thing and that he’d never intentionally “bring shame on the family” by acting in such a way. Like him not being a serial killer, was enough shame haha. Long story short, he was caught masturbating public and got fired from his job at the butcher shop, leaving him to look for another job. Nevertheless, he did manage to secure a position at a Milwaukee blood plasma center. The ideal position for a man who is becoming more and more interested in cannibalism. One evening, Jeffrey took some blood baggies home with him. This is based on a true incident that Dr. Park Dietz revealed to the judge during his call as a witness. According to Dr. Dietz’s account, Dahmer admitted to stealing a bag of blood while he was employed at the plasma center, tasting it, and then spitting it out because he didn’t like the flavor. Here, Jeffrey is seen letting the blood pour over his chest as he stands over his sink and experiments with it.Father Son Holy Gore - Monster - The Jeffrey Dahmer Story - Jeffrey Drinks Blood

Steven Tuomi

Fast foward to Milwaukee, Dahmer would pick his victims up at Club 19, where he picked his almost last victim up and would take them to a men’s bathhouse. Bathhouses were places for gay men to go and “hook up”. But Dahmer got caught drugging one of his conquest and was banned from all bathhouses in the area, resulting to him bring his next victim, Steven Tuomi. They partied together after he spiked Steven’s drink. He eventually fell asleep after being a little too mixed up after some time.
When Dahmer woke up, he realized he had killed Tuomi. In reality, Dahmer insists that he never intended to murder Tuomi, simply to drug him and leave him motionless for the duration of the night, but he left leaving his arms battered and Tuomi’s chest caved in. Dahmer panicked in a sense that he didn’t know how the murder happened, and was trying to come up with a plan to dispose of the body. Dahmer took Tuomi’s body home in a suitcase and started dismembering the body. In order to create his own memories for the box, he retained Tuomi’s head, wrapped it in plastic, and stored it in the ancient box that belonged to his father. Two weeks later, Dahmer attempted to preserve the head by boiling it in Soilex and bleach. He did for a while, using it for masturbation, but he eventually broke it to pieces since the bleach had made it too brittle, ending this episode.

Episode 3: Dahmer’s First Killing

Hey guys, this post will be different than the general idea of what the post is made for because this episode didn’t really cover police action. In fact, it covered Dahmer’s early years in high school and how his obsession expressed to killing his first victim, Steven Hicks. The episode starts off with highlighting how his Mother treated her pregnancy. Fun fact, Dahmer’s mom had postpartum psychosis. Postpartum psychosis is an mental illness that is basically an health emergency for pregnant women. It can cause the mother to have hallucinations which can harm her or the child. And in this episode it starts off with his mom sitting outside in the freezing cold while pregnant with Dahmer.

As you can already see, Dahmer was born into a pretty rough family. His mom being a addict while having a mental illness and his dad not being present as he should contributed to his weird personality. So weird that in the episode, Dahmer and his dad is fishing and when Dahmer catches a fish, he closely fetish the insides of a fish. This might be overlooked by some parents, but if that was me I would be concerned for my child just a little bit because it would be seen as an obsession to me. But this obsession was overlooked by his dad because his dad noticed all the things that was going on at home, he was happy to see Dahmer fascinated with at least something.

In high school, Dahmer wasn’t so popular but was talked to because people were making fun of him. Making fun of him like asking him to “do a Dahmer” (Dahmer would act like he had a disability making noises and doing abnormal hand gestures) and he would do it thinking they are laughing with him. They was definitely laughing at him, so when he asked to hang out and be turned down, it would make him mad. This added to the aggression he already had in him.

Dahmer mom ends up leaving him, taking his brother with her, expressing she didn’t want to deal with his father. This was a result to Dahmer’s dad moving on after the divorce and his mom took this as a chance to leave.   This confused Dahmer and made him more empty than he already was not having parents around. Fast forward to a random day, he sees Steven Hicks on the side of a road and offers him a ride to his home. Hicks wanted to go to a Pegasus concert but accepted Dahmer’s invitation but it starts to get weird… Hours pass and Hicks and Dahmer was handling weights but Hicks started to ask when they were leaving. Dahmer tries to put it off by offering Hicks more beer and more conversation. Hicks insists that he wants to leave but Dahmer just tries to talk him out of it and then Dahmer tries to kiss him. This is when it gets weird. Hicks resists Dahmer and starts to yell at him calling him homophobic slurs and tries to leave, but when he turns around, Dahmer hits him in the head with a weight.

*Sensitive Details*

Once knocked out while blood was running from his head, Dahmer crawled onto him saying things like “Why’d you do that” while caressing his hair. He also started to kiss and feel on Hicks getting arousal from it then he realized he was dead and started to get angry at Hicks. In my opinion this is psychopath behavior and it is really scary that he was a teenager doing this. Dahmer hides Hick’s body and for the first time, Dahmer attempted to use his roadkill skills on his first human body. He cuts his body up into small parts and bag them for disposal. He took the bones and smashed them with a hammer. Before he cut the body up, he was infatuated with the body. He got aroused from the body and enjoyed having complete control of Hicks. I know its very sick right, but this was pleasing for Dahmer. Its like his dopamine levels rose whenever he got close to a dead body. But after he bagged the body, he went on to dispose it.

At the end of this episode he sits on top of his roof and take the ashes of Hick’s crushed bones and throw them in the air, ending episode three.

Episode 2: Konerak Sinthasomphone

Hello guys, back again with another post on the series Monster: Jeffrey Dahmer. This post will be about episode two. It focused on Dahmer’s history as a child, how he got into being obsessive with dead bodies, watching his parents argue, also while having a drug addict for a mom. But this episode also focused on his 14-yr old victim, Konerak Sinthasomphone. I briefly talked about him in my first post, but in this post, I will go in detail about his murder and how the police reacted.

Briefly talking about Dahmer’s childhood, he was raised in a two parent house hold and had a sibling, David Dahmer. His mother was a drug addict who Dahmer seen overdose multiple times. I would say this contributed to his obsession because when you overdose, the body is in the state that it is dead, so it’s like seeing a dead body. This brought Dahmer to the idea of dead bodies and this is where he started to kill animals. In the episode he started with tadpoles that he had gave to his teacher and poured a substance in it that killed them. Having no reaction, this alarmed me that he showed signs of a psychopath here. Have you ever heard the saying that psychopaths show signs at early childhood ages if they kill animals? Yes that came straight to mind. But what was interesting is that his own father got him into cutting dead animal bodies and examining the body. His dad let him do it because since the household was very toxic, he was happy to see Dahmer interested in something. Here I wouldn’t blame the dad because he just wanted to see his son happy but he could have got him into something else rather than examining dead animals bodies, that could give the wrong thought. This was the starting of Dahmer’s psychotic reign and it fast forward to 1991 in Milwuakee with Dahmer meeting Konerak.

Dahmer meets Konerak outside of a liquor store and immidiately starts to target him. Dahmer asked Konerak questions like how old he was and implies that he would buy alcohol for him (setting his trap). Coming out with alcohol, he states that he wants to “party hardy” and insists the only way Konerak will get the acohol is if he goes home with him. Konerak is hesistant at first but Dahmer offers to pay him and Konerak emphasized he needed money for his family. This is the part that alarmed me because Konerak was with his friends and they didn’t think to stop him? Let alone let an older man buy illegal alcohol for him saying the only way he’ll get it is to go home with him. When they got to Dahmer’s place, Dahmer made it known that he knew Konerak was not an adult and asked him how old he was again. This is when Konerak informs him that he is 14 and Dahmer responds with “its cool, I won’t tell nobody.” Dahmer uses his usual procedure to trap his victims by giving him a drugged drink but before drinking it, Konerak tells Dahmer that he already knew who he was becauseof his brother, Somsack Sinthasomphone.

For an overview, Somsack was one of Dahmer’s earlier victim, being assaulted at the age of 13. But Dahmer was caught for this and was placed on the sex offender list and was currently on probation.

Konerak expressed he was only doing this for Dahmer because his family was in need and then he insisted for the money Dahmer promised. Dahmer resisted only giving him $23 out of the $100 that was said. Dahmer used the $23 as a deposit to secure Konerak into taking pictures so he could kill him. “Drink up” Dahmer repediately says to Konerak, pressuring him to drink.

*Sensitive Description*

Once Konerak was drugged, Dahmer stripped him naked. He said things like “I’m gonna make you my zombie” and that he was gonna give him something like a lobotomy while bringing a bucket of hot water and acid.

Still drugged, Konerak attempted to escape while Dahmer wasn’t there. Being seen by Glenda’s daughter, he was asked if he was alright because he was stumbling in the hallway in only his underwear. If I saw this, I wouldn’t think he’s okay and I would bring him to my home and immediately call the police. The police met Konerak outside, and while Glenda was hysterical, Dahmer walked up with more alcohol in his hands. Telling the police that Konerak was his boyfriend, Glenda and her daughter were going back and forth that Konerak looked very young to be Dahmer’s boyfriend. They also emphasized that he clearly is under the influence. The police asked Konerak did he know Dahmer, but he was unresponsive leaving Dahmer the voice for him. The police asked him questions like how old he were and was he drinking but in my opinion if someone can barely walk and is curled up into a ball, I wouldn’t think they would be able to respond to me. This was the police jumping around the fact that it was clearly something wrong with him. They even let him go back with Dahmer after asking for ID and Dahmer claimed he “lost” it. Glenda tried to convince the cops something was wrong but they shut her down with “Lower the temperature…he says this is his boyfriend, we’ll handle it from here.” But in fact they didn’t handle nothing! They helped Dahmer bring Konerak back to his apartment and asked him questions that concerned his sexuality and his white privelage. They asked Dahmer why he lived in such a low income area if he was white and did they have any “weird” stuff in his apartment hinting towards homosexual things. Dahmer played the gay card very well showing him pictures he took with Konerak while he was passed out trying to show a relationship. The cops reacted in disgust and asked to look around but only inspected the doorway, nothing more! This was upsetting to me because the thought that someone can be so disgusted with someone else’s sexuality they ignore huge red flags is very unprofessional. The cops leave Dahmer but with the statement that they had to “go take showers” hinting towards they was exposed to too much “gay activity” for them. This left Konerak the next victim of Dahmer’s killings. These were clear signs that the Wisconsin Police Department neglected to help victims because of sexuality in this episode. All because Dahmer was gay he was ignored as a suspect with a little boy? That is completely unacceptable and we are supposed to rely on the police to help us! Ending on that note, this was one of many examples that showed the neglect of the Wisconsin Police Department, specifically in this case neglect because of sexual orientation.

Tracy Edwards

Hey guys, this post will be about episode one of “Monster”,  and I will focus on Dahmer’s almost last victim Tracy Edwards and how the police department initially reacted . Tracy Edwards and his two other buddies was at Club 219, which was a local gay bar near Dahmer’s apartment building. Dahmer first tried to buy both of Tracy’s friends Aron and Don (the friend group was black gay men) a drink, but when Tracy joined the gathering, the conversation changed. Dahmer stated to the men that”tonight he was a man of action” and followed up with asking did they want to take pictures for him. He offered the group fifty dollars each if they allowed Dahmer to do so (not knowing they would possibly become one of his victims). To the friend group, Dahmer insinuated that he was a professional photographer and that he loved taking pictures of his “models.” Tracy stepped up to the job and agreed with Dahmer that he would do it. His friends staring at him in an absurd way, let Tracy leave with Dahmer and from there, Tracy’s night went left.

Reflecting to seeing this in the episode, I would not have let my friend go with a stranger let alone a man of the opposite race during this time because it was a lot of racial wars, mainly between white and black. This would be very suspect to me and I would encourage my friend to stay even if it meant that he would lose the fifty dollars.

Once they got to Dahmer’s apartment. Tracy noticed the smell in Dahmer’s apartment and immediately had a change of heart. He was offered a drink by Dahmer but the drink seemed peculiar to Tracy, it had tiny bubbles floating on top as if it was mixed with soap. Dahmer tried to persuade Tracy to drink this by saying it was just leftover soap but Tracy didn’t like this. Dahmer suddenly cuffed one of Tracey hands and this made Tracey want to leave. He implied that he was going to leave and this moment changed his life forever, Dahmer pulled a meat knife out that he previously used for his past victims and threatened to kill Tracy if he left. This wasn’t so true in real life events, instead of saying he was going to kill Tracy, Dahmer said he would eat his heart. This may be alarming to some readers, but knowing he said this to Tracy sent chills in my body because I can only imagine how Tracy felt in this moment. To him this was life or death, comply with Dahmer or try to escape and risk your life. Tracy chose to conform with Dahmer and laid down with him in his bed (which had a huge blood stain on it with no cover) and uncomfortably Tracy watched TV with Dahmer. After laying for awhile, Tracey tried to persuade Dahmer to go into the living room.

Tracy then started to take off his shirt and started to dance for Dahmer encouraging to take his pictures. This was uncomfortable for me to watch because the thought that Dahmer liked this and was thinking of murdering him the whole time was insane. Tracey was posing in sexual positions with his lower part risen in the air and exposing his chest. Dahmer seemed to like this but he forced Tracey back in the room and this is when Tracey attacked Dahmer, hitting him with bedroom and living room amenities. Running out of his apartment, Tracey yells “help, he’s trying to kill me” and Glenda hears this and looks out in the hallway. Seeing Dahmer in distraught and tired she runs back in her room. As naked Tracey was running in the streets, a cop car encountered him and the first thing they did was turn on their lights. Saying “Light it up” and leaving the car with their hands on their gun, created the thought that they thought Tracey was a criminal because he was black. If I saw someone in distraught and frightened, I would not have my hands on my gun approaching them as if they were a criminal. Tracey held his hands up pleading that he didn’t do anything and that he was almost killed. Looking at the cuffs on Tracey the police asked him what did he take and where did he escape from (criminalizing him). Pleading again the second time, Tracey tells the officers he was almost killed.

Once the police arrived to Dahmer’s apartment, they asked Dahmer did he know Tracey and Dahmer emphasized that they were together doing “homosexual things”. I believe he did this to make the cops leave because being gay was not accepted by many during this time. The cops didn’t address the attempted murder allegations and asked for the keys to the cuffs instead, in fact they only suspected Dahmer when he couldn’t find them himself. Searching the apartment, still only looking for keys, they asked where Dahmer put them. When the keys were found, the cops were about to leave only until they noticed polaroids. This was the only thing that made the police officers arrest Dahmer. If they didn’t find hard evidence, they would’ve completely ignored Tracey all because he was black and gay. Thinking that if Dahmer hid those pictures, the police would have completely disregarded Tracey claims. This made me feel like it was injustice in this scene. Although Dahmer was caught in this moment, it was a high chance he could’ve walked because of the police not acting on the murder allegations. This was only the end of the Wisconsin police department not doing their jobs, in upcoming blogs, I will revisit earlier times they let Dahmer off the hook and helped his serial killing spree. Below is what was found in Dahmer apartment when the police looked at the polaroids and after the house was examined by the FBI.

Introduction: Jeffrey Dahmer’s Overview

Hello everyone, my name is Dayisha Busch and here I will write posts documenting my reactions to the infamous Netflix show”Monster”. “Monster” is based off of Jeffrey Dahmer,  one of America’s famous serialSuspected serial killer Jeffrey L. Dahmer enters t killers who preyed on numerous men, killing and sexualizing them in gruesome ways. To give an overview of this blog, he killed a span of 15 boys from 1978 to around 1991, where he was caught by Wisconsin police department and sentenced 15 times to serve life averaging 957 years. Although he was sentenced, the show made me think how did he get away with killing over a dozen men and never got caught? After watching episode 1, I started to realize that not only did the police department neglect Dahmer’s victims justice, but they neglected to even pursue investigating Dahmer when it was reports made. His neighbor, Glenda Cleveland tried to have Dahmer arrested when she noticed something was off in his apartment. She made claims that she would hear screaming sometimes coming from the vents of his apartment and that his apartment had a smell that didn’t smell pleasant. This part of the show was exaggerated to the extent that Glenda did not reside in the same building as Dahmer but to think if my neighbor apartment smelled that bad to the point it smelled like rotten flesh, I would automatically think something died. I smelled a dead animal before and it indeed smelled like death. But Glenda was ignored by the police, maybe because she was a woman of color living in a low income area and they did not take her seriously. Signs from the police department shows neglect after her daughter and niece, Sandra Smith and Nicole Childress, witnessed 14 year old, Konerak Sinthasomphone Konerak Sinthasomphonewandering in the streets naked. The boy portrayed signs of drug usage and was clearly not in the right mind to function. The Wisconsin police department was called but they unjustified the boy and sent him back to Dahmer even after witnessing his then physical state. Reflecting on this brings light that the police department picked and choose when they wanted to investigate a case and depending who or what it is, it was completely ignored. In my opinion , this demonstrates homophobia and racism because not only was Dahmer white and it was his word against 2 black young girls, but he was also gay. It is known that around the 70s up til’ now, people become unsure when it comes to the LGBTQ+ community. But especially during this time HIV/AIDS were thriving through communities and it was controversial whether it was contagious by touch or not could have influenced the police minds about investigating Dahmer. This may be sensitive to some readers and intriguing to others, but my main goal is to try to inform those and shed light on the social issue than just Jeffrey Dahmer.  In my next couple of posts, I will be going in detail about each episode and mainly talking about how the justice system failed these poor young men with Dahmer. In fact, Dahmer would have not gotten this far if the Wisconsin Police Department tried to do their job instead of neglecting their duties all because it was a white man being accused.
