PUEO

Payload for Ultra High Energy Observations

A long-duration balloon experiment that will have world-leading sensitivity to broad swaths of unexplored parameter space in UHE neutrino flux using the radio-detection technique from a high-altitude platform. PUEO builds on the foundation laid by the Antarctic Impulse Transient Antenna (ANITA) program, which is the best existing probe of UHE flux above 30 EeV. The improved sensitivity of PUEO is a result of a number of novel features compared to ANITA, including a larger antenna array and a beam-forming trigger. PUEO will be able to measure or rule out a number of viable UHE models, providing a better understanding of the UHE accelerators throughout the entire universe.
