I grew up in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts and spent my weekends on Buzzards Bay. Flippin’ rocks in the woods and treading in tide pools set me on a path to become a professional natural historian, and I can’t think of a better career choice.
I earned my BA in Biology at the University of New Mexico, an MS in Entomology at the University of Arkansas, and my PhD at the University of Illinois. After a postdoc at Florida State University and a stint at North Carolina State University, I moved to the magnificent Pennsylvania State University. If natural historian is the best career in the world, Penn State is quite possibly the best place to work. Surf around our lab website to find out more about what we do, and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have want to know more.
My full CV (Google doc) is also available. Email, believe it or not, is the best way to contact me (adeans@psu.edu).
