Denise Potosky, Ph.D.

My research balances applied research with theory development regarding human resource management, organizational behavior, and industrial and organizational psychology. My research expertise includes global intercultural management and international HRM, personnel selection and assessment, and leading change. As an international scholar, I am interested in the influence of cultural differences on management practices and HR strategies at the organizational level, as well as personnel selection, intercultural adjustment and competence development at the individual level.

One key area of my research has focused on personnel staffing and the use of valid selection tools and methods to predict job performance, to reduce adverse impact associated with various measures, and to increase cultural diversity in organizations.  Another notable area of my research has been the design and evaluation of computerized and web-based assessments, and I have earned recognition in the field with regard to technology in organizations (e.g., technology-facilitated selection processes; leadership and technology).

My expertise extends to individual characteristics measurement and research methods, including examining the relationship between individual attributes and attitudes (such as cognitive ability, personality, and self-efficacy beliefs) and various constructs and outcomes (such as decision-making behavior, task or job performance, and acculturation and adjustment).  I have also examined group processes, climate perceptions, organizational culture, and change management in organizations.
