Thankfully, my goodness, there was no blog for last week because let me tell you, it would have been a very depressing one to write. Losing to the 49ers in a sad 11-17 loss, neither our offense nor defense could really do anything. But this post will be drastically more depressing as we lost to the Dallas Cowgirls by 20, 41-21. This game brought us back to Earth — we are still a Philadelphia sports team who regularly disappoints. Honestly, my eyes still hurt from sitting through that ridiculousness in which I actually stopped watching in the third quarter. The game was just too sad to finish watching. This game in my eyes was the fault of poor coaching. I have said this before about our last coach in Doug Pederson — why are we not utilizing our star running back whatsoever! The fact that Miles Sanders only had 2 carries, let me say that again, the fact that Miles Sanders ONLY HAD 2 CARRIES THE ENTIRE GAME is a complete disgrace. Utilizing our run game is something that we need to consistently need to get our offense moving, especially when our quarterback Jalen Hurts throws an interception in the endzone during our first offensive possession. Hurts passed for 326 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions — although this may not seem all that bad we only had twelve first downs all game which is just sad, Dallas had more than double that with twenty-seven. When you literally can not convert first downs, you can not win a football game, that is just how it works. Also, when our number one receiving option Devonta Smith has only three receptions for under thirty yards the offense is truly stagnant. On the defensive end, we were lost. Other than a fumble recovery for a touchdown early in the first quarter, we could not stop the Dallas offense. It almost seemed like the Cowboys would get 7-10 yards minimum each play which was so hard to watch. Overall, our performance was worse than embarrassing but hopefully this will not happen again.
With that being said, we are set to take on the Kansas City Chiefs at home Sunday at 1:00. The Chiefs have had an underwhelming start to their season at 1-2. Even then, the Chiefs are still favorites to win the NFL again. With so many offensive threats led by MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Eagles are in for a rough matchup. Stopping, or even containing, star wide receiver Tyreek Hill will be a major problem and focus for the Eagles secondary this weekend. The biggest issue that we face is the Chiefs’ best tight end in the league Travis Kelce. Last week, we allowed a low-tier tight end on the Cowboys to score two touchdowns on six receptions and eighty yards. If we can’t contain a bad tight end, how are we supposed to cover Kelce. Travis Kelce has twenty receptions for 289 yards with three touchdowns in only three games. We need a major defensive plan directly targeting him because he will scorch us if not. If Nick Sirianni does not pick up his game and start running the ball, there is no chance our offense does anything productive against the strong Kansas City defense. I foresee a big loss in this game, unfortunately, 45-17. It will not be pretty with the current form of the birds and the legitimacy of the Chiefs. I foresee one touchdown from Devonta Smith and one from Goeddart this week. Hopefully, it will be better and will set us up for a successful rest of the season.
