Physical signs:

• Bruises around the breasts or genital area
• Unexplained venereal diseases, genital infections or pregnancy
• Unexplained vaginal or anal bleeding
• Torn, stained, or bloody underclothing

Behavioral or Emotional signs:

• Fear or withdrawing from particular people, places or activities
• Emotional changes such as depression, excessive crying or aggression
• Sleep disturbances or nightmares
• Dramatic weight loss or weight gain
• Poor performance in school
• New onset of drug or alcohol abuse
• Some remain asymptomatic
