Capstone Project Update #6

The First Snow Happened.

I’d prefer not to talk about it. I was outside at  the Penn State game and I couldn’t feel my toes or my fingers for a while. Three cheers for the mask mandate, though. It kept my nose warm.

To be honest, I don’t have a whole lot to chat about this week. I really wasn’t developing much. But I was cleaning up one of my concept art works.

I wanted to keep a more painterly feel to it, so instead of using lines like I did for the creature turn arounds, I worked to make sure I just used shapes and different lighting to define the edges of things.

One thing that was really fun to do was all of the experimentation. I got to work with different brushes, layer effects, and color correction layers in order to get the effect that I wanted in the concept piece.

I think it turned out pretty well with a good depiction of how the Diamond Variant lives in the mines as a close knit family. It also has some pretty cool glow effects that I had a great time messing around with.
