Livestream shopping has taken China by storm: In 2023, 25% of online sales took place through livestreams. Although consumers in the U.S. have yet to embrace it, companies and entrepreneurs from China believe it’s only a matter of time before they do — and they’re gearing up to take advantage of what they think will be a huge boom. CHC has more than 10 streamers in the U.S., all trained by support staff from China well-versed in the art of selling things live. They’re even literally given the Chinese playbook: The document CHC hands trainees is in Chinese, with the English translation below.
Over the past few months, more than 20 such agencies have emerged in the U.S. They’re filled with staff experienced in Chinese livestream e-commerce, and seek to professionalize livestream shopping on TikTok by recruiting and training local talent. Many of these agencies work with TikTok, and receive incentives and even products to sell directly from the company, multiple agency owners told Rest of World.
