Yuqing Hu
Dr. Hu is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture Engineering at Pennsylvania State University. Her general research interests lie in using Building Information Modeling (BIM) and graph-based artificial intelligence to improve design and construction automation. Dr. Hu holds a doctorate in Building Construction, and a Master’s in Computational Science & Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and earned Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science degrees from Tongji University in Engineering Management and Management Science & Engineering.

Chen Xia
Chen is a Ph.D. student supervised by Dr. Hu. She received her MS degree in Construction Engineering and Management from Tongji University in 2020. In her spare time, she enjoys reading novels and playing the guzheng, a kind of Chinese traditional instrument.
Degree Pursued: Ph.D. in Architectural Engineering
Research Interests: Community electricity vulnerability analysis, spatial-temporal community energy simulation, social and infrastructure resilience analysis.
Yaxian Dong
Yaxian is a Ph.D. student in Dr. Hu’s research group. She received her M.Eng. degree in infrastructure system management from the National University of Singapore in 2022. Before that, she completed her bachelor’s degree at Chongqing University and then worked as Research Assistant at the construction management research center at Tianjin University.

Research Interests: VR/AR in construction management; Construction robotics; Blockchain; Computer vision; Building information modeling; Automatic recognition and positioning.
Zheng Lu
Zheng Lu is a Ph.D. student supervised by Dr. Hu. He acquired a Civil Engineering Bachelor’s degree in China and received his MS degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Southern California in 2022.
Degree Pursued: Ph.D. in Architectural Engineering
Research interests: Robotics application in construction, BIM-based construction circular economy, Blockchain-based building material reuse and recycle tracking.
Mohammad Hossein Kazemi
Hossein, under the guidance of Dr. Hu, is pursuing a Ph.D. in the Department of Architectural Engineering at Penn State. His research centers on the application of Machine Learning and Robotics across different sectors of the construction industry, aimed at optimizing and streamlining processes while driving continuous improvement. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tehran and a master’s degree from the Sharif University of Technology. Outside of academia, Hossein is an avid soccer enthusiast, enjoying playing, watching, and even discussing the sport in his free time!

Suman Paneru
Suman is a PhD Student supervised by Drs. Hu and Wang. Hailing from Nepal, he proudly represents the first in his family to complete high school. Boasting an all-compassioning education in Architecture, Engineering, and Construction he is interested in trans-disciplinary research that drives building and community towards resiliency and carbon neutrality. His professional experience spans about 6 years of building large-scale complex projects in the US. In his free time he immerses himself in reading, penning down thoughts, and trekking.
