The other type of presentation you will be asked to do during the semester relates to a particular technology and how you envision it being used in a teaching and learning context. This will be done in your teams, with each person participating at an equal level. The desired outcome is a presentation in class that you will provide the class an introduction to the technology and will specifically answer the following 7 questions:
- What it is?
- Who’s doing it?
- How it works?
- Why is it significant?
- What are the downsides?
- Where it is going?
- Why it matter to teaching and learning?
You will then lead a conversation related to the technology’s potential impact for teaching and learning. Specifically, your team should consider affordances and constraints of the technology. If it is a service, please feel free to task the class with creating accounts and participating in some designed activity — please note, this is not necessarily a major teaching and learning task.
This activity will form the basis for the overarching synthesis assignment that you will complete in the third segment of the class.
