I saw this right after listening to the podcast, so I had to share it with you all! One aspect of the story that bothered me was the idea that until a child hears a voice in their head, they don’t think…. How do we know that babies don’t hear words in their head? There are many babies who have learned sign language and use it accurately before they utter a single word. Would they not have to think of the word (Hungry, water, want more, too cold, etc.) they want to sign? I wonder if the researcher on Radio Lab considered this communication when developing his idea.
