Here is the Google+ Community for our class, Disruptive Technologies #ci597.
You should see an “Ask to join” red button in the top right corner. Request to join and myself or another moderator will accept you to the group.
We currently have a category on the left hand side of the community labeled “2015”. The idea is that this community will continue through other semesters of this class, creating an ongoing community of disruptive technologies.
I also created an “Is this disruptive?” category in hopes that this can be a location to post unique articles on disruptive technologies and have a discussion around.
There are also three more categories listed as well: All posts, Discussion, and Photos.
- All posts – This is self explaining. If you select this category, you will see all of the posts from every category.
- Discussion – This is the default category when posting to the Google Community. In other words, this is the main category for general discussion.
- Photos – This isn’t really a category. It acts more as a space that aggregates all of the photos posted in the community from all categories. It’s like a shortcut to view just photos in the community.
But wait Zach, what’s a category? Great question! I’m glad you asked. A category is basically a group within the overall community. It allows us to group, or organize, our conversations (posts) by certain criteria that we specify.
I also added links to our other communities, which you can see in the attached screenshot just below the “Ask to join” button. These can be used as shortcuts to jump to our other communities a bit quicker.
