I have mixed feelings about the TED talk phenomenon and what it has spawned (I await the TED University), but here is a talk (not actually from TED) that focuses on leadership and also gives you a sense of why community (and leadership in a community) so important to learning. Gives you a sense of the complexity of the human social organism and why thinking there are cognitive solutions to thing can be deeply naive. Think about it in terms of the role of the teacher in a classroom, or the role of higher education in the lives of faculty and students. Maybe even tells you something about the value of tenure for a vibrant intellectual community.
