I am continuing to work on models and concept art for now. I have realized I am running into a bit of a dry spell as I am struggling to work on the character models. Turns out, I bit off slightly more than I can chew. I have been watching YouTube video extensively and I think I am going to try and get done all the minor assets for now and spend the rest of my days trying to sculpt these faces. I am also considering using other sculpting programs to see if any of them have a better interface. I realize that the characters are going to be the most important part, so I am still focusing on their design. Depending on the severity of the character sculpting struggle, I still have some of my first ideas in which the characters are less realistic and more cute and cartoony!
I feel as if I may have to go in this route so by the next production report, if I don’t have a pretty decent head sculpt, I will definitely be changing up my character design into something a little easier. I have another project where I will be creating a face so hopefully I can practice in that class and here. I will just have to watch more YouTube tutorials that are dummy friendly. Modeling the characters are definitely more challenging that I initially thought they would be.
I have been creating a variety of different models and I have been mainly focusing on the weapons for now. I have been creating the simple meshes before I delve any further into the actual stylization and design aspect. I would like to make sure that I have some sort of foundation to start on before I begin to develop intricate details such as sprinkles or whipped cream. I remember seeing video tutorials on creating easy and fast whipped creams, so I will have to search for those again!
Overall, I am just continuing to work on my project at a steady pace. Like I said before, the face has been giving me a lot of challenges so I feel as if I might have to go back to the drawing board for this one. In face, it makes me slightly nervous for my other project too! I’m sure with a little more practice, I can figure out an easier method than the ones I am seeing online! Although it may not seem like I have plenty of progress done, I have a good chunk of weapon bases made but I didn’t want to take a picture of them all separate yet. I am excited to compile them all together at the end and see how the results come. If I have time, I would also like to make some landscape scenes just to see how it would look! I am hoping to get better at faces soon, or fine an easier tutorial. If I have to go the cartoony route, well so be it!
