Production Report #5

For this week I began to run through color ideas as I have completely finished my models for my characters. I will be adding in the base colors and then going in and texturing each model to resemble the clay-like texture I am trying to achieve. I began by running through some color combinations and seeing what fits best and how I want to style each character in terms of color and shading. For now, I started to implement the very flat base colors because I will have to create a variety of different nodes for each character and piece. This is allowing me to brainstorm and change the colors if needed. I am trying to keep each character within their own color pallet to ensure a nice quality style. I feel as if this will make them look more polished and well off at the end. Once I have added in the textures and final colors for my models, I will begin to pose them, hopefully using the rigging technique in blender.

Since then, I began to create the other monsters and creatures that will be apart of my concept. These are not as serious as my character models as they are only meant to represent enhanced gameplay in my concept. These will be fairly simple but enough to achieve the style I want for each monster. For now, I have created the melted ice-cream monster and my candy bat. I will also be adding in the flat colors and adding in the clay like texture to these pieces as well. I will be creating one more creature to have a total of three. Once those are complete, I will just need to finish my 3 weapons and I am done! Although it might not seem as if I have a lot accomplished by this week, I have all my base models ready for detailing and other elements ready to be added. From there, I will begin to add the textures, colors and poses! That is really the final bit of my project and I can see myself finishing this, or close to it by next week or the week after. It will not take me long to finish my creatures and weapons so I will like to push those out of the way. The only time consuming parts will be adding in the textures, colors and posing.

I am happy that I was able to get a lot of my base models complete because I will just further the details on those and they will be ready for the texture and colors. The reason why I am holding off on the color and texture aspect is because the clay textures have a lot of different aspects to achieve this look. I want to make sure each part is correct and there are no mistakes when I finally add in those textures. Overall, I will just be finishing up some of my last few models, adding in the final colors and textures and then rigging the character models for posing! I feel as if I am ahead of my schedule because I have everything broken down and what needs to be complete when.
