Here are a couple sketches I came up with to present my final portfolio for the class. While I knew I wanted to do something a little more linear, I still came up with some more dynamic concepts to consider.
Variations Sketches
Here are some of the sketches I made for the variations projects. I wanted this project to include a cat in some way so I put down some ideas that incorporate them. My final result however ended completely differently than I would’ve imagined, but I still included some cat element in it.
Variations
Here’s my finished variations piece. I used a set of cheetah eyes and domestic cat eyes as well as a conveniently skull-shaped galaxy as the base of the image. I really like the overall aesthetic to it so I was happy to make it.
Quickmask Exercise
Here’s my final result for the quickmask exercise. I didn’t really have any problems while doing it.
Corpse Sketches
Here’s my three sketches for the corpse project. All of them heavily involved the cat picture I wanted to use but I tried to move around my other assets to create other compositions.
Final Corpse
Here’s my final for the corpse project. I tried combining the pictures of a siamese cat, a beanie baby, Greta Thunberg, and Wildwood’s boardwalk and beach. I tried creating something that had an abstract and low-quality feel to it.
Layer Collage
Here’s my final picture for the layer collage exercise. Doing this exercise felt very frustrating because parts of the collage weren’t working. When I’d try doing a hue over the merged layer, the cyan hands in the background wouldn’t appear at all. I’m not sure how, but when I went to change the opacity in one of the layers the blue hands had shown up again. I also messed up some of the scaling in the beginning.
Tonal Scale
Here’s my finished picture practicing with tonal scales. It wasn’t really that difficult to understand and I had no problems trying to finish it. Through practicing, I’ve gotten ideas about what I can do with hues and saturation for my final.
Corpse Scanning
Here are the pictures I’ve chosen for this project. The first picture is the one I took with my camera, the 2nd is an old digital photo from Wildwood, the 3rd is a picture of Greta Thunberg I found online, and the 4th is the random picture I wanted to use – a siamese cat.
Mandala Final
Here’s my final mandala for the project. Since I could not use Illustrator for this project because of my computer, I had to use an alternative called Gravit Designer.
