Fall Coffee Hour schedule announced
The speaker schedule for the fall 2015 Coffee Hour lecture series has been posted on the department website. The first Coffee Hour will be September 11 with Eddie Brzostek of West Virginia University. See the complete list of speakers by date: http://www.geog.psu.edu/news/coffee-hour. Talk titles and details will be added to this listing.

Coffee Hour is a weekly lecture hosted by the Department of Geography celebrating interdisciplinary scholarship and collegiality. Topics range from innovations in GIScience, to food security, to land use and justice issues, among others. All members of the Geography, Penn State, and Centre County community are invited to attend.

Restored, historic plaster relief map on display
On Tuesday, Aug. 11, a recently restored, historically significant map was installed in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences’ (EMS) Museum and Art Gallery. The museum is located on the ground floor of the Deike Building and the press conference is open to the public. More images.

Penn State women’s soccer picked as Big Ten preseason favorites
The No. 6 Penn State women’s soccer team has been picked to defend its 2014 Big Ten regular season title, according to the 2015 Big Ten Women’s Soccer Preseason Coaches’ Poll released Wednesday. Three players from each Big Ten team were named Big Ten Women’s Soccer Preseason Players to Watch, with seniors Britt Eckerstrom (geography major), Raquel Rodriguez and Mallory Weber representing the Nittany Lion Blue and White.
