Gender and Healing: Utilizing Films for the Feminist Classroom

Call for Proposals Roundtable: Gender and Healing: Utilizing Films for the Feminist Classroom NeMLA (Northeast Modern Language Association) Convention http://www.nemla.org/ April 7-10, 2011 New Brunswick, New Jersey Host Institution: Rutgers University *Gender and Healing* centers on the Barbara Hammer film "A Horse is Not a Metaphor," which documents Hammer's experiences with ovarian cancer. Presenters will speak on texts, websites, games, and other media that could be taught along side the Hammer film in the context of a feminist classroom. "A Horse is Not a Metaphor" will be screened in part or in its entirety at the commencement of the roundtable and followed by discussion. Please submit abstracts of approximately 300 words to Deanna Utroske ( deannautroske@gmail.com) and Jillian Hernandez (jillian.hernandez@gmail.com) with "Gender and Healing" in the subject line by September 30, 2011. Please include your name, affiliation, postal address, telephone number, and audiovisual requirements (if any, $10 handling fee with registration).
