 II Congress of Information Studies: Data management

In Information Studies, information is conceived as a phenomenon, process, system, product and service capable of extending the cognitive abilities of human beings through its systematic processing with the use of specific technologies and methodologies. In Information Studies several interdisciplinary perspectives converged, so theorists like Williams and Losee warned in the nineties of the need to take up approaches derived from areas such as computer science, in addition to those from the humanistic areas.

 

This as a response to the rapid development of Information and Communication Technologies, which had an impact on the complexity of information flows and favored the production and diversification of different types of information. Currently the social, economic and scientific significance of information expressed as data, requires careful reflection on the scope of competition of Information Studies Congress has as its

 

Objective: To promote actions aimed at contributing to the interdisciplinary debate on data management from the theoretical field of Information Studies.

 

Themes: Congress will address, among others, the following topics:

– Big data

– Text Mining

– Data mining

– Open scientific data

– Linked data

– Topics related to data management

Date and Place: The Congress of Information Studies: Data Management will take place from November 14th to 16th, 2018, at the facilities of the Institute of Library and Information Research located in Ciudad Universitaria, Mexico City.

 

Addressed to: Researchers, professors, librarians, information scholars and professionals and students of related areas interested in the theme of the Congress.

 

Works presentation of: Those interested in participating as SPEAKERS may be researchers, professors and information professionals interested in the topics of the Information Studies Congress: “Data Management” and should send a summary with their proposal to the email address: congresoeinformacion@iibi.unam.mx no later than 6:00 p.m. of Sunday, September 9, according to the following specifications:

1.)           Summary of the work (with a maximum length of 500 words) that contains:

• Title

• Full name of the author or authors with their institutional affiliation

• Country

• Contact information: contact address and telephone number, electronic mail (s).

• Summary itself with: • Objective • Content • Results (if any)

• Bibliography in Chicago style

2.) Curricular profile of the author or authors of the text.

 

Both documents must be in Word format. The type and size of the font used should be Arial 11, the space between lines 1.5 and double space between paragraphs; the margins of the pages should be 3 cm. per side.

 

The proposals will be dictated by a Scientific Committee and the results will be communicated as of September 24, 2018 individually to their authors. All authors whose works have been selected must send the final version of their work no later than Friday, November 30, 2018.
