Introduction  The International Journal of Technology-Enabled Student Support Services (IJTESSS) presents, analyzes, shares, and collaborates ideas, experiences, research studies, and cases on the advancements, innovations, and implementations of technology in student support services covering the entire gamut of education ranging from formal learning to informal learning, including childhood education, tertiary education, vocational education, open and distance education, and skill development and competency enhancement. Targeting educational planners, administrators, researchers, educational technologists, educational specialists, and marketing educators, IJTESSS attempts to create a networked approach of synergy between technology and student support services and its management for sustainable educational development and competency enhancement. In addition to full-length research papers, this journal publishes insightful books reviews and case studies on educational institutions and their techno-management initiatives for the management and administration of support services for students at all levels/stages of education.

Invitation The Editors-in-Chief of the International Journal of Technology-Enabled Student Support Services (IJTESSS) would like to invite you to consider submitting a manuscript for inclusion in this scholarly journal. The following describes the mission, coverage, and guidelines for submission to IJTESSS.

Mission  The mission of International Journal of Technology-Enabled Student Support Services (IJTESSS) is to provide an international forum for technological innovations and its related applications for effective student support services and its management and administration in all the segments/stages of education (formal as well as non-formal), including, but not limited to, early childhood education, school education, K-12 education, higher education, online, distance, and continuing education. The purpose of the journal is to cover diverse socio-economic, geographic, and differential cultural perspectives under the overall mandate of the application of technology in student centric support services in the diversified fields of education and learning. Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit their original empirical research articles 3,000–10,000 words in length. Interested authors must consult the journal’s guidelines for manuscript submissions at prior to submission. All submitted articles will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis by no fewer than 3 members of the journal’s Editorial Review Board and 1 Associate Editor. Final decision regarding acceptance/revision/rejection will be based on the reviews received from the reviewers and at the sole discretion of the Editor-in-Chief.

The Journal for Undergraduate Ethnography


*The Journal for Undergraduate Ethnography* (JUE) is an online journal for
research conducted by undergraduates. We distribute original
student-produced work from a variety of disciplinary areas. Our goal is to
bring readers, especially other undergraduates, insights into subcultures,
rituals and social institutions. The JUE encourages current undergraduates
or those who have graduated within the past twelve months to submit
original ethnographic manuscripts for consideration. Papers may include
research on any topic. We also encourage faculty to recommend promising
student work.

Keystone Digital Humanities

Please consider submitting a proposal to participate in the Keystone Digital Humanities Conference:

The Keystone Digital Humanities conference will be held in the Kislak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books and Manuscripts at the University of Pennsylvania Libraries, July 22-24, 2015.

Proposals are now invited for the following, in all areas of digital humanities:

  • Long presentations (20 minutes)
  • Short presentations (7 minutes)
  • Project showcases (10 minutes)

Presentations may take the form of interactive presentations, short papers, project demos, or panel discussions. We welcome proposals from emerging and veteran students, teachers, and scholars.

In addition, we are thrilled to announce that Dr. Miriam Posner, Coordinator and Core Faculty of the Digital Humanities Program at UCLA, will be presenting the keynote lecture, “What’s Next?: The Radical, Unrealized Potential of Digital Humanities.”

The community will be invited to vote on proposals that they would like to see included in the program. The 10 proposals with the highest scores are guaranteed a slot at the conference. The Program Committee will curate the remainder of the program in an effort to ensure diversity in program content and presenters. Community votes will, of course, still weigh heavily in these decisions.

Girls Studies

Girls Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal for Undergraduate Research is a peer reviewed, open access journal that publishes the work of undergraduate students on topics such as the socialization of female adolescents, gender expectations, identity, body image, the impact of media on girls, and girl empowerment. Submissions of an interdisciplinary nature as well as from across the disciplines–for example, from Sociology, History, Literature, Cultural Studies, Education, Art, and Feminist Theory (to name a few)– are welcomed.

The aim of Girls Studies is to provide a forum for undergraduate students in a variety of disciplines to engage in conversations of gender and equality, particularly as it relates to the field of girls studies. It is our hope that, by participating in this particular academic discourse, these students will critically engage in these issues beyond their undergraduate studies, either in graduate work or in their professional lives.

We invite undergraduates of any institution to submit the following:

• Editorial, opinion, or perspective essays

• Research papers

• Reviews of relevant media (books, movies, television)

Likewise, we encourage those who work with undergraduate students to urge revision of course assignments with the aim of submission to Girls Studies.

Feminist Spaces, call for student work

*Feminist Spaces*, a publication sponsored by The University of West
Florida’s Women’s Studies Collective, has issued their first call for
works, titled Manifestas: Supporting Women’s Studies In Academia. *Feminist
Spaces* invites undergraduate and graduate students from universities
nationwide to submit academic essays, creative writing, or
multimodal/artistic pieces that investigate why Women’s Studies is
important to them individually, as well as to America’s educational
institutions. For this inaugural issue we are also soliciting 1-2 page
statements that are interested in the same inquiry. These statements will
be published in the Fall 2014 issue of our online journal. Please ensure
all written submissions adhere to the guidelines and conventions set forth
by the *Chicago Manual of Style* 16th Edition. All artistic submissions
must be submitted electronically as a JPEG or PDF file. Deadline for

“Science and Gender Matters: No Limits 2013”

March 1-2, 2013 at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln

Hosted by the UNL Women’s and Gender Studies Program

“No Limits” is an annual student conference dedicated to crossing boundaries between disciplines and exploring a wide range of women’s and gender issues. We invite proposals from undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates on any topic from any discipline related to women’s issues, lives, histories or cultures; feminism; or women’s and gender studies. Creative writing, visual arts, film, music, performances, workshops, and academic papers are all welcome. Proposals for individual presentations or pre-made panels are accepted.

While papers and panels can address a variety of themes, this year’s keynote and panel discussion will address the conference theme of “Science and Gender Matters.” Janet Kourany, feminist philosopher of science and professor at the University of Notre Dame, will deliver the keynote talk “But What Happens When the Scientists Are Women?” In addition, UNL associate professor Sarah Gervais will lead a panel discussion on “Applying Gender to Psychology Research: Helping Students Create New Knowledge.” Her students will describe their experiences working with Gervais’ research team and answer questions about their work and research from the audience.

Proposal Submission Instructions

Your proposal should include:

• Your project title

• An abstract of 250-400 words describing your project and its larger significance

• Contact Information: your name, institutional affiliation, mailing address, e-mail, and phone number MUST be on your proposal

• The days you are available to present and any A/V equipment you might need. 15-20 minute presentations are expected. If you anticipate your presentation to exceed that time, please make note of it on your proposal.

When submitting your proposal, please copy the text of your proposal in the body of the email AND attach it as an electronic copy.

Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) Undergraduate Poster Session on Capital Hill

Please remember that the Application Deadline for the 2011 Posters on the Hill event is November 15, 2010.

Nothing more effectively demonstrates the value of undergraduate research than the words and stories of the student participants themselves. In the Spring of 2011 the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) will host its 15th annual undergraduate poster session on Capitol Hill. This event will help members of Congress understand the importance of undergraduate research by talking directly with the students whom these programs impact.

CUR is calling for students to submit an abstract of their research that represents any of CUR’s disciplinary divisions (Arts and Humanities, Biology, Chemistry, Geosciences, Health Sciences, Mathematics/Computer Science, Physics/Astronomy, Psychology, and Social Sciences). In order to ensure proper review of applications, the above are the only disciplines that may apply.  Should your research be inter-disciplinary, please select the division that most closely describes your research.

Abstract submissions will only be accepted by using our on-line submission form.  Prior to submitting the form, students should gather the contact information for all co-authors, advisors and sponsors (if applicable), prepare a short vitae/resume, and poster abstract.
